A feature film adaptation of Roblox experience Grow a Garden is in development with Story Kitchen, according to the company’s November 5, 2025 news listing and a February 2026 report by GamesBeat. That confirms a development announcement—not that the film has been greenlit for production or begun filming. No release date, distributor, cast, or production schedule is established in those sources.
What has been announced about the Grow a Garden film?
Story Kitchen’s news index lists a November 5, 2025 announcement titled “Story Kitchen Developing Film Adaptation Of Roblox Game ‘Grow A Garden’.” GamesBeat later reported that the game’s creators announced a partnership with Story Kitchen to develop a feature film adaptation that month. These sources establish a project in development; they do not establish that principal photography or other production has started. Story Kitchen’s news index; GamesBeat, February 23, 2026.
Who is behind the game and the adaptation?
Story Kitchen is the company named in the development announcement. Roblox identifies Jandel as the creator behind the Grow a Garden experience in a September 5, 2025 article. That identification provides context about the game; it does not, by itself, establish Jandel’s specific role in the film’s creative team. Roblox’s Creator feature.
GamesBeat also quotes Adam Starr, general counsel at Do Big Studios, discussing creators’ interest in owning intellectual property and expanding into merchandising and traditional media. Starr’s remarks are general commentary about creator-owned IP, not an announcement of a particular Grow a Garden product or film detail. GamesBeat’s report.

When will the movie come out?
No release date is established in the cited sources. They also do not name a theatrical or streaming distributor, so there is no confirmed release platform or window to report. The project’s development status should not be mistaken for a scheduled premiere.
Is the film actually in production?
The available announcement and subsequent report describe the adaptation as being developed. They do not confirm a production start, filming schedule, budget, director, or writer. “In development” is the accurate status based on these sources; claims that the film is filming or fully greenlit would go beyond what they establish.

No. Roblox announced its License Manager and Licenses catalog in July 2025 as a platform for rights holders and creators to partner on Roblox experiences, naming Lionsgate, Netflix, Sega, and Kodansha among its launch partners. That broader licensing initiative does not establish that Roblox is producing or distributing the Grow a Garden film. Roblox’s licensing-platform announcement.
The same Roblox announcement reported 97.8 million average daily active users for Q1 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not a count of Grow a Garden players or a forecast of the film’s audience.
