Robert Irwin fronted Bonds’ “Made for Down Under” underwear campaign, launched in April 2025 alongside the Australian brand’s US launch. The playful ad put him in Bonds briefs with Australian wildlife nearby; it was a brand campaign, not an announcement of a new clothing line or a departure from his conservation work.
What is Robert Irwin’s Bonds underwear ad?
The campaign paired Irwin with a crocodile, a spider and a large lizard as he modeled Bonds briefs. In the commercial, he asks, “How is it Australians are so laid back? It’s simple – they’re all wearing comfy undies”. The joke links Australia’s famously hazardous wildlife with the relaxed comfort Bonds says its underwear provides. Why did Robert Irwin pose in underwear?
Irwin said he agreed because Bonds is “an absolute icon” in Australia and because he wanted to try new things. In excerpts from a People interview relayed by DNA Magazine, he also explained that the campaign gave him a new platform and audience for his conservation message: “I get to approach a new audience, a new platform, and get my wildlife conservation message out there to more people.”
That describes his stated motivation; it does not establish that the campaign itself funded or directly supported conservation work.

Who else was involved in the campaign?
Advertising trade publication Campaign Asia reports that singer Tkay Maidza also fronted the campaign. It lists Special Australia for the agency work, Stefan Hunt as film director and Lula Cucchiara for still photography. The reported media plan included outdoor, digital, social, SiriusXM, connected TV and Amazon placements.
At launch, Bonds Australia president Tanya Deans said the brand was “thrilled to introduce our iconic underwear and signature Aussie spirit to the U.S.”, according to The Independent.

A report published in 2025 said the Irwin-featured collection was available in the US through Amazon and the Bonds website. That historical report does not confirm current stock or that a present-day listing is the same campaign range.
