There is no authoritative, audited figure for Robert Blake’s net worth when he died in 2023. Celebrity Net Worth estimates it at negative $3 million, but that is a secondary estimate—not a verified estate valuation. The clearest documented financial snapshot is his February 2006 bankruptcy filing, which reported assets of $100,001 to $500,000 alongside substantial listed liabilities.
What the financial record establishes
The available figures describe different things and come from different years. Blake’s bankruptcy schedules, as reported by the Los Angeles Times in 2006, are a contemporaneous account of assets and liabilities he declared in that filing. Celebrity Net Worth’s negative $3 million figure is an estimate of his net worth at death in 2023. Neither source provides an audited final estate balance.
| Figure | What it refers to | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| $100,001–$500,000 | Assets declared in Blake’s February 2006 bankruptcy filing | Los Angeles Times, Feb. 4, 2006 |
| $30 million | Civil judgment listed among the liabilities in the bankruptcy report; the Associated Press also reported the civil jury’s award to Bakley’s family | Los Angeles Times, Feb. 4, 2006; Associated Press, Mar. 10, 2023 |
| $1,274,783 | Federal tax debt listed in the 2006 bankruptcy report | Los Angeles Times, Feb. 4, 2006 |
| $334,337 | State tax assessments listed in the 2006 bankruptcy report | Los Angeles Times, Feb. 4, 2006 |
| Negative $3 million | Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate of Blake’s net worth at death; not an official valuation | Celebrity Net Worth; publication date not established |
The 2006 amounts are not a statement of what Blake owed or owned when he died nearly 17 years later. The sources available here do not establish whether those liabilities were later paid, reduced, discharged, or otherwise changed.
How the civil judgment and bankruptcy fit together
In 2005, a civil jury found Blake liable in connection with the death of his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, and ordered him to pay her family $30 million, according to the Associated Press. The judgment was a civil finding; it should not be confused with the separate criminal case, in which Blake was acquitted. The AP reported that the civil judgment sent him into bankruptcy.

The Los Angeles Times account of the February 2006 filing listed the judgment alongside the tax debts and the declared asset range. Those entries show the scale of the obligations reported at that point, but they do not independently establish Blake’s ultimate financial position or the balance of his estate.

The Associated Press reported that Blake spent millions on his defense and later lived on Social Security and a Screen Actor’s Guild pension.
