The couple have shared selected family photographs, interviews and public milestones while keeping many details about their children private. The information below focuses on publicly reported names, birth dates, name origins, parental anecdotes and carefully documented appearances—not private medical, school, home or security information.
How many children do Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have?
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have three children together:
- RZA Athelston Mayers, their first son, born May 13, 2022;
- Riot Rose Mayers, their second son, born August 1, 2023; and
- Rocki Irish Mayers, their first daughter, born September 13, 2025.
Rihanna and Rocky are publicly described as partners and co-parents. Although Rocky has referred to Rihanna as his “wife” during performances, those remarks and song lyrics do not independently establish a legal marriage, so it is more accurate to refer to them as Rihanna and A$AP Rocky or as the couple. Parade’s family overview and Vogue’s relationship timeline use that broader public context.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s children: quick facts
The ages in this table are calculated from the publicly reported birth dates and are accurate as of August 10, 2026. Ages will change, so the birth dates are the more useful evergreen reference.

Spelling note: The spelling used here for RZA’s middle name, Athelston, follows the birth-certificate reporting cited by the Los Angeles Times. Some later coverage has used variants such as “Athelaston” or “Athleston.” That discrepancy should be acknowledged rather than presented as though every version has equal documentary support.

Who is RZA Athelston Mayers?
RZA Athelston Mayers was born on May 13, 2022. He is Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s first child and eldest son. His name was kept out of the couple’s early public discussions: even when Rihanna and Rocky appeared with him for British Vogue in February 2023, the article identified him only as their baby.
Why is he called RZA?
RZA’s first name is widely reported as a nod to RZA, the Wu-Tang Clan member, producer and filmmaker whose birth name is Robert Fitzgerald Diggs. The connection has been covered by the Los Angeles Times and GQ.

Public reporting supports the Wu-Tang association, but Rihanna and Rocky have not provided a detailed, authoritative explanation of every part of the name. It is therefore more accurate to call RZA a reported tribute or nod than to claim a fully documented naming statement from both parents.
How should RZA’s middle name be spelled?
The strongest birth-certificate reporting cited in the reviewed coverage gives his name as RZA Athelston Mayers. Us Weekly and other outlets have printed alternative spellings, including “Athelaston” and “Athleston.” Those variants may reflect confusion with spellings associated with A$AP Rocky’s own middle name, but they should not be silently treated as equally verified.
What have Rihanna and Rocky said about RZA?
Rihanna has offered a few affectionate glimpses of RZA’s relationship with music. In a 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she said he enjoys hearing her sing and can become emotional during songs including Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, The Wheels on the Bus and Incy-Wincy Spider.
Rihanna has also joked that RZA inherited her forehead, while Riot did not. That is a lighthearted parental observation, not an objective assessment of the children’s appearance. Likewise, the music anecdotes are snapshots from a particular interview and age—not a complete personality profile of a young child.

Who is Riot Rose Mayers?
Riot Rose Mayers was born on August 1, 2023. He is the couple’s second child and younger son. His first major public reveal came in September 2023, when Rihanna and Rocky shared photographs of RZA and the newborn together. The images gave the public its first substantial look at the family as a family of four.
Who came up with the name Riot?
Rihanna has said that Pharrell Williams supplied the name “Riot.” In her 2025 Harper’s Bazaar interview, she explained that Pharrell initially thought the baby would be a girl when he suggested it. This is the clearest parent-confirmed explanation for Riot’s first name.
There are other possible associations discussed in entertainment coverage, including connections to A$AP Rocky’s music and the song title RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n). However, the available reporting does not establish that the child was named after that song. The confirmed point is Rihanna’s account that Pharrell gave them the name.
What does Rose mean?
The explanation for Riot’s middle name is less firmly documented. Entertainment Tonight attributed “Rose” to a source who connected it with Rocky’s love of flowers and Rihanna’s fondness for roses. That is a reported explanation, not a detailed public statement from both parents, so it should be described as an attributed source account rather than settled fact. ET’s timeline includes the explanation.

Rihanna has described Riot as especially energetic and vocal, saying he wakes up squealing and wants to sing. Rocky later described Riot as talkative and assertive in his interactions with his older brother. Those comments from the parents make for a warm snapshot of the toddler’s behavior at the time, but they should not be turned into a definitive biography or developmental judgment.
Who is Rocki Irish Mayers?
Rocki Irish Mayers was born on September 13, 2025. She is Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s third child, youngest child and first daughter, following two sons.
When was Rocki’s birth announced?
Rihanna revealed her third pregnancy at the Met Gala on May 5, 2025, rather than through a conventional advance announcement. Rocky confirmed the pregnancy to reporters. Several months later, on September 24, Rihanna announced that the baby had been born and identified her as Rocki Irish Mayers, giving her September 13 birth date.
The announcement is confirmed by Vogue and the Associated Press. Because Rocki was born in September 2025, older articles that still call her a newborn or describe her as only a few weeks old are now outdated.

What does Rocki’s name mean?
The couple has publicly confirmed Rocki’s name and the family’s preference for R names, but no authoritative source in the reviewed coverage explains why her middle name is Irish. It should not be presented as a reference to Rihanna’s ancestry, a particular relative or any other family connection without a direct statement.
“Rocki” clearly echoes A$AP Rocky’s stage name, and that may be the intended connection, but it remains an inference. The parents have not publicly confirmed that Rocki was named after Rocky.
Rocki’s public appearance
In April 2026, Rocki appeared with Rihanna on the cover of W magazine’s Pop Issue. W presented the cover as Rocki’s first public appearance. The appearance shows the family’s selective approach to publicity: the parents may share a carefully produced image or milestone while continuing to withhold ordinary details of the children’s lives.
Rocki is still too young for meaningful public personality reporting. Unlike the older children, she has not been the subject of substantial parent interviews about her interests or behavior.

Why do all three children have names beginning with R?
The shared initial is not just fan speculation. In a 2025 interview reported by BET, Rihanna said that she and Rocky do not argue over one parenting rule: their children’s names will begin with the letter R.
The pattern also fits the parents’ own first names. Rihanna’s legal first name is Robyn, while A$AP Rocky’s legal first name is Rakim. That makes the R theme an especially natural family pattern. Still, the parents have not explicitly said that RZA, Riot or Rocki was named after Robyn or Rakim. The confirmed rule explains the shared initial; it does not automatically explain the meaning of every individual name.
What Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have shared about family life
The parents’ public comments portray music, playfulness and sibling interaction as parts of family life, but they offer only selected glimpses. Rihanna has spoken about singing children’s songs to RZA and about Riot’s eagerness to vocalize. Rocky has discussed how fatherhood changed his emotional and protective instincts and has described the children’s interactions in broad terms. His 2026 comments were covered by Esquire and W, with further fatherhood context in The New York Times.
One revealing detail from Rocky’s Esquire coverage is that he does not expect the family to publish the sort of posed Christmas photographs that many celebrity families share. That comment is consistent with the broader pattern: Rihanna and Rocky are willing to make some family moments public, but they do not appear to treat their children’s entire lives as content.

Rihanna’s May 2026 tattoo, inspired by children’s scribbles, is another example of family life appearing indirectly in her public work. Reporting identifies the drawings as coming from RZA, Riot or possibly both; it does not establish that Rocki contributed, so the tattoo should not be described as a design made by all three children. Allure reported the available details.

The children have appeared in carefully selected settings:
- RZA appeared with Rihanna and Rocky on the February 2023 British Vogue cover, although his name was not yet public.
- RZA and Riot were shown together in the family photographs released in September 2023.
- Rihanna and Rocky have made additional selective public appearances with the older children during the years that followed.
- Rocki appeared with Rihanna on the April 2026 W cover.
- Riot attended A$AP Rocky’s Los Angeles concert in June 2026.
These appearances do not make the children public figures with independent careers, nor do they establish that they are being prepared for careers in music, fashion or entertainment. A magazine cover or concert appearance is a public moment arranged or permitted by the parents—not evidence of a professional identity.
A responsible family profile should also avoid precise home locations, schools, regular travel patterns, security arrangements, medical information and identifiable caregivers. Those details are private and are not necessary to answer who RZA, Riot and Rocki are.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s children: the current answer
As of August 10, 2026, RZA, Riot and Rocki are Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s three publicly known children. RZA, born May 13, 2022, is the 4-year-old eldest son; Riot, born August 1, 2023, is the 3-year-old younger son; and Rocki, born September 13, 2025, is their 10-month-old daughter.
The family’s clearest shared tradition is the R-name rule. Beyond that, the parents have allowed some name origins, musical interests and sibling anecdotes into the public record while keeping the children’s private lives comparatively protected. That balance is important: the public knows who the children are, but not every detail of how they live.
