Karen Huger, a cast member of The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP), was released from Maryland’s Montgomery County Detention Center on September 2, 2025, after serving about six months. She had been sentenced to two years, with one year suspended, following a 2024 DUI conviction tied to a March 2024 crash in Potomac.
When was Karen Huger released?
A Montgomery County corrections spokesperson confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Huger was released on September 2, 2025. She had spent about six months in custody at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
Why was Karen Huger in jail?
Huger’s incarceration followed a 2024 DUI conviction arising from a March 2024 crash in Potomac, Maryland, the Los Angeles Times reported. In February 2025, she received a two-year sentence, with one year suspended, leaving a yearlong custodial term.
Why was she released after six months?
The Washington Post attributed the reduction in time served to good-behavior credits and Huger’s participation in jail programs. The report describes why she left custody before completing the full yearlong custodial portion of her sentence.
