How Jennifer Tilly says she earns money from The Simpsons
Tilly has said that her divorce settlement with Simon gave her “a piece” of The Simpsons. In a December 3, 2024 recap of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14, Episode 3, Bravo quoted her saying: “And then when we got divorced I got a piece of The Simpsons in the divorce settlement, and nobody knew that The Simpsons was going to go on for trillions of years.” Bravo’s episode recap reports that the couple married in 1984 and divorced in 1991; Simon died in 2015.

Bravo also reported that Tilly described her portion as about one-third of Simon’s ongoing Simpsons earnings during a November 2021 appearance on The Originals podcast from Los Angeles Magazine. That is an attributed description of a share of Simon’s earnings—not evidence that Tilly receives one-third of all revenue generated by the show, or confirmation of a current payment amount.
What Tilly has said about the settlement’s value
In a 2024 interview with Grazia, Tilly called her share “a smallish piece” and recalled thinking during the divorce that it might be worth $20,000 or $30,000. Bravo also quoted Tilly describing how the money changed the kinds of work she felt she needed to take: “I used to do a lot of movies because the roof was leaking, or to pay for the plumbing, and now I don’t have to.” She added, “So every day, honestly, every day I’m like, ‘Thank you, Sam,’” in the Bravo account of her RHOBH remarks.
What is—and is not—known about her income
The public comments establish how Tilly describes the settlement and its effect on her life; they do not establish its full legal terms or the amount she receives now. The reporting cited here includes no divorce agreement, royalty statements, or official financial disclosure. It therefore cannot support a precise current annual Simpsons income, total net worth, or a guarantee that payments will continue for life.
