The next mainline Resident Evil game is reportedly targeting 2029, but Capcom has not announced that date. ComicBook.com reported on February 13, 2026, that series insider Dusk Golem said the game is “right now aiming for a 2029 release date” and could slip to 2030 or even 2031. The claim is an insider report, not a confirmed launch plan.
What is the reported Resident Evil 10 release date?
According to ComicBook.com’s February 13, 2026 report, Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer) said the next mainline game was targeting a 2029 release. The reported wording was: “it’s right now aiming for a 2029 release date, but could be delayed to 2030, 2031 at worst, up to the whims of game dev.”

That makes 2029 an attributed development target, not a date Capcom has confirmed. The same statement explicitly allows for a delay to 2030 or 2031, so the year should be treated as uncertain rather than a firm window. ComicBook.com’s report reproduces the claim from Dusk Golem’s February 13 post.
Has Capcom announced Resident Evil 10?
Capcom’s cited official announcement identifies Resident Evil Requiem as the ninth main installment. Its September 16, 2025 announcement gave the game a February 27, 2026 release date and listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Those details confirm the status of Requiem; they do not confirm a tenth game, a title, or a release window for its successor. Capcom’s announcement also reported cumulative Resident Evil game sales of more than 174 million units as of June 30, 2025.

- Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
- Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
- Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
- Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

In the sources consulted, Capcom has not confirmed the successor’s official name, platforms, setting, cast, gameplay, release date or preorder availability. Dusk Golem reportedly said it might not even be called Resident Evil 10, so that label is a convenient shorthand, not an established title.
Why a 2029 target is not a confirmed schedule
Game development plans can change, and Dusk Golem’s reported statement itself includes possible delays. The report provides no independently verified development milestone, budget, team size or release probability that would make the target more certain.

- Reimagined Story – Resident Evil 4 dials up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry, while providing more nuanced depictions of the character motivations and relationships that defined the 2005 survival horror icon.
There is broader context for the series’ release cadence, but it does not validate this particular date. In July 2026, PC Gamer reported Capcom producer Masachika Kawata’s comment that “producing a new entry in the Resident Evil series every year would be quite an undertaking and a difficult task.” Kawata also discussed remakes as part of how the company can pursue annual releases and fund new entries. These were general remarks about franchise strategy, not confirmation of a 2029 schedule. PC Gamer’s coverage provides that context.
