The Redmi Turbo 3 Harry Potter Edition was real, but this is a historical announcement—not a current August 2026 pre-order. Gizmochina reported on April 12, 2024, that Giztop was accepting international pre-orders at $499, with shipping expected to begin on April 16. The phone was a China-market limited edition, and the currently indexed Harry Potter phone on Giztop is the newer Redmi Turbo 4 Pro—not the Turbo 3.
What was announced in April 2024?
The product was the Redmi Turbo 3 Harry Potter Special Edition, an official Redmi/Xiaomi China-market phone sold internationally through Giztop, an importer and reseller rather than Xiaomi’s official global retail channel.
According to Gizmochina’s April 12, 2024 report, Giztop advertised the phone at $499 and listed April 16, 2024 as the expected shipping date. That price was a dated reseller price, not Xiaomi’s official China-market price and not evidence of a current Turbo 3 offer.
What made it a Harry Potter Edition?
The special edition focused on collectible design and presentation rather than a radically different internal platform. It used blue-and-gold Harry Potter and Hogwarts styling, with design elements inspired by the “Seven Horcruxes” concept. The software also included themed user-interface elements.

Contemporary reports described a wizarding-world presentation box and accessories including a custom protective case, themed charger, Hogwarts badge pin, admission-style card or related collectible materials, and other Harry Potter packaging. Exact contents can vary by seller, region, or fulfillment batch, so buyers should confirm the box contents with the seller before paying.
The edition was reported as a China-exclusive 16GB/512GB configuration. Xiaomi’s official product information for the regular Turbo 3 is available on its Redmi Turbo 3 specifications page.

The front-camera and brightness figures are not perfectly consistent across launch reports. It is more accurate to identify those differences than to present one disputed number as definitive. The Turbo 3 used UFS 4.0; the UFS 4.1 specification associated with newer listings belongs to a different phone.

The China-market Harry Potter Edition was reported at 2,699 yuan for the 16GB/512GB model—approximately $373 using the conversion cited in contemporary coverage. Giztop’s advertised international price was $499, roughly $126 higher before taxes, customs charges, payment-conversion fees, or additional shipping costs.
That difference does not automatically prove that the reseller price was unreasonable. Import pricing can include sourcing, international logistics, handling, seller support, and inventory risk. However, $499 should be understood as a historical import price, not as the official Xiaomi China price or a current deal.
Important risks for international buyers
China-market compatibility
The phone was not a standard global Redmi model. Before ordering, compare the exact model number and supported LTE and 5G bands with your carrier. “Unlocked” or “5G-ready” does not guarantee compatibility with every network, especially in the United States.
An imported device may also lack local certification, eSIM support, carrier-specific features, or manufacturer-backed warranty coverage in your country.

At launch, the phone ran HyperOS based on Android 14, but the exact software supplied by an importer matters. Ask the seller in writing:
- Is the phone running the original China ROM, a global ROM, or seller-modified software?
- Which system languages are available?
- Is Google Play installed, and is the device Google-certified?
- Will official OTA updates work normally?
- Are Google Wallet, Android Auto, banking apps, and streaming services supported?
- Has the bootloader been unlocked or altered?
Seller-installed Google services may be convenient, but modified software can affect OTA updates, Widevine DRM, notifications, banking applications, privacy, and factory-reset behavior. Do not transfer software claims from the newer Turbo 4 Pro listing to the Turbo 3 without confirmation.
Warranty, returns, and final cost
Review the seller’s current warranty, dead-on-arrival, return, restocking, and repair policies. An imported China-market phone may have reseller-backed support rather than the local Xiaomi warranty buyers expect from an officially distributed device.

Also verify whether the quoted price includes shipping, import duties, VAT or sales tax, brokerage charges, and payment fees. The final delivered cost can be considerably higher than the headline price.

Do not confuse it with the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro Harry Potter Edition
As of the August 16, 2026 research cutoff, the current Harry Potter phone indexed on Giztop was the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro Harry Potter Edition. It was listed at $499 and marked in stock when crawled, but it is a different generation.

The newer listing also has different dimensions, cameras, cooling, and software details. Giztop’s claims about English and Simplified Chinese, Google Mobile Services, Google Play, and OTA support apply to that newer listing and should not be assumed for the Turbo 3.
Who should consider the Turbo 3 edition?
Collectors may still want the original edition because it combines authentic Harry Potter hardware, themed packaging, and the uncommon 16GB/512GB configuration. Authenticity, condition, and a reasonable price matter more than the old $499 headline.
Import enthusiasts may appreciate the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 performance, 120Hz OLED display, 90W charging, and large storage. They should be comfortable checking carrier bands, ROM details, warranty terms, and customs obligations.
For ordinary phone buyers in 2026, the Turbo 3 is difficult to justify unless it is substantially discounted and the buyer specifically wants the collector edition. Newer phones may offer better camera processing, battery life, network support, repair options, and software longevity.
It is a particularly poor fit for anyone who requires guaranteed US carrier support, Android Auto, Google Wallet, banking compatibility, enterprise device management, or straightforward local returns.
Buyer checklist
- Confirm that the listing is for the Turbo 3, not the Turbo 4 Pro.
- Request the exact model number and supported LTE/5G bands.
- Confirm the ROM region, available languages, Google Play status, and Google certification.
- Ask whether OTA updates work and whether the bootloader has been modified.
- Confirm the charger plug, included accessories, and whether the device is sealed or seller-opened.
- Calculate shipping, taxes, customs, brokerage, and currency-conversion costs.
- Read the warranty, DOA, return, and restocking policies before ordering.
- For a collectible, request confirmation of the original Harry Potter box and accessories.
Verdict
The Redmi Turbo 3 Harry Potter Edition was a genuine official Redmi limited edition, and the April 2024 Giztop pre-order announcement was genuine. But the $499 price and April 16 shipping date belong to that historical announcement.
In 2026, treat the Turbo 3 as an older China-market collector phone, not a current mainstream purchase. The current Giztop Harry Potter listing is for the Turbo 4 Pro. If you are considering either model, verify the exact generation, ROM, carrier bands, taxes, warranty, and return terms before paying.
