Brentwood police said Alan Ritchson acted in self-defense during a physical altercation with his neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, and would face no criminal charges. Police also said Ritchson declined to press charges against Taylor; the case was closed with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office’s agreement. Later-released case-file footage, described by WTVF, adds context from just before the confrontation.
What happened in Brentwood
The altercation involved Reacher actor Alan Ritchson and his neighbor Ronnie Taylor in Brentwood, Tennessee. Video of part of their physical confrontation circulated widely. The Los Angeles Times reported that Taylor had complained about Ritchson’s motorcycle riding; those complaints are allegations attributed to Taylor, not findings established by police.
Reports differ on the incident date. WTVF’s March 25 report says the fight video was recorded on March 21, 2026, while its later account of the police case file describes the incident as occurring on March 22, 2026. The available reports do not resolve that discrepancy.
What the videos show
The widely circulated footage
The initial viral footage showed part of the physical altercation, according to the Los Angeles Times. It did not include all the events immediately preceding the confrontation.

The later-released case-file footage
In a later report based on records it said it received from the Brentwood Police Department, WTVF described video recorded on Ritchson’s phone. WTVF said the footage showed Taylor stepping in front of Ritchson’s motorcycle, followed by Ritchson braking hard and going head-first over the motorcycle. That account supplies context immediately before the fight, but the sequence alone does not establish anyone’s motive.
Why Ritchson will not face charges
After reviewing video footage and witness statements, Brentwood police said Ritchson acted in self-defense and that no criminal charges would be pursued against him. Police also said he declined to press charges against Taylor. The Los Angeles Times quoted police saying: “With the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken.”
