His 2026 challenge ended in another loss: Cody Rhodes retained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Orton at WrestleMania 42, then Orton attacked him after the bell. The result keeps Orton’s WrestleMania story mixed rather than completing the turnaround suggested by the earlier headline.
What is Randy Orton’s WrestleMania record?
The official WWE results cited here establish several significant wins and losses, but they do not establish a complete career win-loss total. A precise record would require checking every appearance and applying consistent rules to tag matches, multi-person matches and battle royals. The examples below show why Orton’s WrestleMania history can seem unexpectedly uneven for a performer with his stature, without claiming an unsupported aggregate.
Notable wins
- WrestleMania XXIV: Orton defeated John Cena and Triple H in a triple threat to retain the WWE Championship. WWE’s match result.
- WrestleMania XXVI: Orton defeated Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes in a triple threat. WWE’s match result.
Notable losses
- WrestleMania 21: The Undertaker defeated Orton. WWE’s account describes Orton countering a chokeslam attempt with an RKO before Undertaker won with a Tombstone. WWE’s match account.
- WrestleMania 25: Triple H defeated Orton in a WWE Championship match. WWE’s match result.
- WrestleMania XL in 2024: Logan Paul defeated Orton and Kevin Owens in a United States Championship triple threat. WWE’s WrestleMania XL results.
These results include both championship success and prominent losses. They are a selection of documented examples, not a complete tally of Orton’s appearances.

Why Orton’s WrestleMania history feels mixed
The contrast is between Orton’s reputation and the varied outcomes on wrestling’s biggest annual stage. His WrestleMania XXIV victory was substantial: he left the event still WWE Champion after defeating both Cena and Triple H. Yet other marquee moments went against him, from Undertaker’s win at WrestleMania 21 to the 2026 title loss to Rhodes. In multi-person matches, the distinction matters: Orton can be part of a match’s outcome without being the wrestler who wins it, as at WrestleMania XL.
For comparisons with another wrestler, use consistent criteria rather than relying on an unexplained total: distinguish singles from multi-person and tag matches, note championship stakes and main-event placement, and specify whether “winning” means winning the match or leaving with a title.

What could change after WrestleMania 42?
Orton’s post-match attack on Rhodes leaves a clear storyline opening for a continued rivalry, but it does not establish what WWE will book next. WWE announced WrestleMania 42 for April 18–19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas; the Saturday result confirms that Orton’s challenge did not produce a WrestleMania victory. WWE’s event announcement. Whether the attack leads to another title opportunity or a different direction remains unsettled by the result itself.
