Rachael Ray said she had experienced “a couple of bad falls” in the weeks before she discussed them on her podcast, and had stopped doing some physical chores for a while. The episode of I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead aired on October 22, 2024—four days after Ray hosted the Burger Bash at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival. The episode may have been recorded earlier, so its release date does not establish when she made the comments.
What did Rachael Ray say about the falls?
In the debut episode of I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, with guest Jenny Mollen, Ray said: “I’ve had a couple of bad falls in the last couple of weeks, so I haven’t been doing that in a while.” The contemporaneous report attributed the words to Ray and explained that “that” referred to physical chores she had been discussing. (PEOPLE, October 23, 2024)
Ray did not describe how the falls happened or identify any injuries or diagnosis in the reported comments. The available account therefore supports only a limited conclusion: she said she had fallen and temporarily paused some physical chores.
When was the Burger Bash appearance?
Ray hosted the festival’s Burger Bash on October 18, 2024, appearing onstage with her husband, John Cusimano. The podcast episode aired October 22, four days later. Contemporary coverage noted that the episode was likely recorded in advance, but did not establish its recording date. That means the airing date cannot show that Ray made the disclosure after the Burger Bash, or establish how she was feeling during the event. (PEOPLE, October 23, 2024)

What is known—and not known—about her health?
Public questions such as “What happened to Rachael Ray?” and “Is Rachael Ray okay?” are not evidence of a medical condition. Coverage of speculation about her speech or appearance did not establish a connection to the falls, and the reported comments do not supply a diagnosis. It would be inaccurate to turn online theories or the limited disclosure into a medical claim.

In a March 5, 2026 interview with the Associated Press, Ray spoke about continuing to work and appear at public events amid rumors about her health and marriage. “I’m a woman in her mid-50s that’s still employed, still making programming, and still can book an event and have thousands of people come out. That means a lot to me,” she said. The interview offered career and public-appearance context, not a diagnosis or an explanation of the 2024 falls. (Associated Press, March 5, 2026)

The AP also reported that Ray had hosted the South Beach festival’s Burger Bash for two decades, crediting her with a cumulative 568 burgers, and that more than 20 attendees paid $500 each for a private dinner the following night. Those figures describe the event history and dinner reported by the AP; they do not add information about the falls. (Associated Press, March 5, 2026)
