Project Hail Mary is already streaming on Prime Video, according to Amazon’s guide updated July 3, 2026. The film first arrived on MGM+ on June 18; that was a separate streaming debut, not its Prime Video launch. Where and how it’s available can vary by country, so check the local listing before subscribing or renting.
Where to stream Project Hail Mary
Amazon’s streaming guide, updated July 3, 2026, says the film is available on Prime Video worldwide. That does not guarantee the same access terms in every country. The US Prime Video title page currently lists Prime or MGM+ subscription access, UHD rental and purchase, and DVD and Blu-ray formats. Offers and prices can change; use your local listing to see what is available to you.
Why the streaming dates differ
The release unfolded in stages, which accounts for the June and July dates sometimes attached to the film:
| Date | Release stage |
|---|---|
| March 16, 2026 | Select Prime members received early screenings at select theaters, four days before the nationwide release. Amazon listed IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and 70MM formats in its early-ticket announcement. |
| March 20, 2026 | Nationwide theatrical release in the United States, according to Amazon’s early-screening announcement and later guide. |
| June 18, 2026 | Streaming debut on MGM+, reported by The Associated Press on June 12. |
| July 3, 2026 | Amazon’s guide was updated to announce that the film was streaming on Prime Video. |
The June 18 date refers to MGM+; the Prime Video availability announcement came later. The two dates describe different services and release stages.

Subscription, rental, purchase, or disc
The current US title page shows several ways to access the film. Which one makes sense depends on whether you already subscribe to the listed services and whether you want a temporary rental, a digital copy, or a physical disc.
- Subscription: The US page lists Prime and MGM+ subscription options. Confirm the terms shown for your account and country; a listing on the US page does not establish that a subscription includes the film everywhere.
- Rental or digital purchase: The US page offers UHD rental and purchase. These are separate from subscription access, and the displayed terms may change.
- DVD or Blu-ray: The US page also links to physical formats. Disc availability depends on the market and retailer.
The film and Andy Weir’s novel
The film adapts Andy Weir’s 2021 novel. Readers who want the original story can look for the Project Hail Mary book in print, Kindle, or Audible formats; a book is a companion to the film, not a way to stream it. Amazon’s July 3-updated guide reports more than 2 million audiobook copies sold.
