How the viral wink brought sudden attention
Scroll.in connected Varrier’s rapid rise to a short clip in “Manikya Malaraya Poovi,” a song from the Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love. The story said the song was released on February 9, 2018, and that the wink clip went viral, prompting intense search interest and movie offers. Varrier said she did not understand why people reacted so strongly to the wink.

According to the interview’s account, director Omar Lulu expanded her role in Oru Adaar Love after audiences responded to her. The film explored friendships and relationships among school students. The story also described a continuing cycle of memes and comparisons alongside online trolling.
Being reduced to the wink
The attention meant that strangers repeatedly asked Varrier to recreate the gesture. “I have to do it. People leave me with no choice,” she told George when discussing requests to wink. She also put the scale of her public profile in perspective: “All I have to my credit is a song and a wink.”
