What hairstyle did Princess Anne wear at the banquet?
At the state banquet for French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron’s visit, Anne wore her hair in a twisted, voluminous bun arranged to one side, with height retained at the crown. Us Weekly reported the event took place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. She paired the look with an ivory gown and bolero, a blue sash and her diamond Festoon Tiara. Us Weekly’s report and Marie Claire’s coverage both described a departure from her usual hairstyle.

There is no evidence in these reports that Anne adopted the bun as her new everyday style. ITV’s report on her 75th-birthday portrait said that the July 2025 photograph showed her with her hair self-styled in her signature bouffant. How long does Princess Anne say her usual hairstyle takes?
Us Weekly reported that in the 2020 documentary Princess Royal: Anne at 70, Anne said, “I mean, it takes me 10 or 15 minutes.” The remark came as she compared her own styling time with the hours actress Erin Doherty said the production spent recreating Anne’s hair for The Crown. For television-production context, hair and makeup designer Cate Hall told Town & Country that the team supplemented Doherty’s hair with a ladder wig, then used mousse with a large round brush, setting lotion and hot rollers.
