The meeting took place at Clarence House on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, according to ITV News and the Associated Press. ITV reported that Harry arrived at about 5:20 p.m. and left at 6:14 p.m., a 54-minute visit.

Why was it described as their first meeting in 19 months?
Before the September 2025 tea, father and son had last met in February 2024. Harry traveled to the UK after Charles’s cancer diagnosis, and the AP reported that they spent about 45 minutes together. The 19-month description refers to the interval between those two face-to-face meetings.
What did Harry and Charles discuss?
Their conversation was private. ITV said, “No further details have been released about Harry’s private tea with his father.” Neither the subjects they discussed nor any plans or promises they may have made were publicly disclosed.

Was the meeting a reconciliation?
The meeting is evidence that they met; it does not establish that they reached an agreement or resolved their family rift. The tensions have public roots in Harry and Meghan’s 2020 departure from royal duties and subsequent public accounts and disputes. AP identifies Harry’s memoir Spare as part of that wider context, but it is not an account of what was said during the private tea.
In a May 2025 BBC interview, as quoted by AP, Harry said: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. I don’t know how much longer my father has.” Those remarks preceded the September meeting and should not be read as a statement about what happened over tea.

The Clarence House tea was not the last reported contact. AP reported a separate private family gathering at Highgrove on July 10, 2026, attended by Harry, Meghan, their children, Charles and Queen Camilla. That later gathering had different participants and took place at a different venue; it was not the September 2025 meeting. AP’s timeline also says the Sussexes would not resume working royal roles.
