Prime Video has renewed Cross for Season 3, ordering eight episodes. The series stars Aldis Hodge as detective Alex Cross. Amazon has not announced a premiere date for the new season.
What Amazon has confirmed about Season 3
Amazon says the third season will consist of eight episodes and stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. The renewal was also reported by TheWrap, which said Hodge will return as Alex Cross.
Amazon’s announcement was originally published on November 8, 2024, and updated on March 25, 2026. The official coverage does not give a Season 3 release date.
When will Cross Season 3 come out?
There is no confirmed premiere date in the official announcement. Prime Video lists the Season 2 finale as March 18, 2026; that date marks the end of Season 2, not a Season 3 launch. No release window has been announced in the sources cited here.

What the series is about
Cross is a Washington, D.C.-set crime thriller based on characters from James Patterson’s Alex Cross books. Hodge plays Alex, a homicide detective and forensic psychologist whose ability to understand how killers think informs his work.
The television series draws on characters from Patterson’s books; that connection does not mean each season directly adapts a particular novel. Season 2’s story, for example, centers on billionaire Lance Durand seeking FBI protection after a death threat, with Cross and FBI Agent Kayla Craig working to protect him and identify the person behind it.

Why Amazon says it renewed the show
Amazon reported that Season 1 drew more than 40 million global viewers in its first 20 days. That is Amazon’s stated audience figure for that specific period, not an independently audited total or a Season 3 viewership number.
Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Global Television, said the series had captivated audiences with its characters, suspense, and emotionally grounded storytelling. That is the studio’s explanation for the show’s appeal, rather than an independent critical ranking.
