Predator: Killer of Killers is an animated anthology that sends the Yautja after human warriors in three different eras. Early reviews are enthusiastic about its historical variety and kinetic action, though the graphic violence and deliberately exaggerated animation may not work for every viewer. The film premiered June 6, 2025; it streams on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally, subject to local availability.
What are the first reviews saying?
The early critical response is strongly positive. Rotten Tomatoes’ first-review roundup framed the film as “Every Predator Fan’s Dream Come True,” praising its appeal as a distinct franchise entry while noting that its video-game-like animation may take some adjustment. RogerEbert.com highlights the contrast among the historical segments and the energy of the action. Its review describes a stylized visual approach that recalls Spider-Verse and Arcane, alongside notably graphic violence. Read the RogerEbert.com review.
What is the movie about?
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg and co-directed by Josh Wassung, the June 6, 2025 release is an animated action-adventure anthology set in the Predator universe. Its three stories follow a Viking raider on a revenge quest with her young son, a feudal-Japanese ninja who turns against her Samurai brother in a succession struggle, and a World War II pilot investigating an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. 20th Century Studios’ film page provides the official synopsis.

How do the three historical stories fit together?
The anthology’s main attraction is its changing matchup: the Predator’s hunt meets human fighters from different cultures and periods, each with distinct weapons and tactics. Rather than staying with one modern protagonist, the film shifts from one historical confrontation to another, then connects the stories. That structure offers variety while keeping the franchise’s familiar premise—the Yautja testing dangerous prey—at its center.
The Viking, feudal-Japan, and WWII settings also give the action different textures. The premise sets up close-quarters revenge and succession conflicts alongside a wartime threat in the sky. The early reviews particularly praise the segments’ distinct identities and energetic staging; viewers who prefer one continuous plot may find the anthology format less satisfying.

- The epic Predator legacy continues with this action-thriller set in the Comanche Nation. When Naru, a fierce and highly skilled young warrior, sets out to protect her people, the prey she stalks turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator â leading to a vicious and terrifying showdown.
Is the animation and violence a good fit?
The animation is stylized and heightened rather than naturalistic. Its exaggerated, game-like look supports fast, forceful action, but it is a matter of taste: viewers who enjoy kinetic animation may find it a strong match for the material, while those who prefer realistic visuals may need time to adjust—or may not warm to it.
The violence is graphic. This is not an all-ages animated adventure: check the film’s rating and your household’s comfort level before choosing it for younger viewers or a casual family watch.
