Shorties began as a beta in 2023 and was reported as a fuller product in November 2025, with swipe-style discovery, recommendations, and creator controls—not proven access to TikTok’s code or algorithm.
The feature borrows a familiar pattern: short, vertically framed videos appear in a sequential feed, and users can move quickly from one clip to the next. The adult-platform version has also generated a memorable internet-culture label, “goonscrolling.”
Key takeaways
- Shorties is Pornhub’s vertical short-video feed, designed especially for scrolling through vertically recorded clips on mobile devices.
- The feature was reported as a beta on August 17, 2023, and as a more fully introduced product by XBIZ on November 6, 2025.
- Shorties resembles TikTok in its swipe-based format, recommendations, and engagement mechanics, but the available evidence does not establish copied code or a copied recommendation algorithm.
- Reported Shorties controls include Like, Follow, Favorite, Skip, smart recommendations, and “More of Me” creator discovery.
- “Goonscrolling” is internet slang for repeatedly scrolling through pornographic content, not a clinical diagnosis or official Pornhub product term.
- TrafficJunky’s June 2026 media kit lists dedicated advertising formats for the Pornhub Mobile Shorties feed, including banner and video placements.
What is Pornhub Shorties?
Pornhub Shorties is a vertical short-video feed that lets users scroll through brief, vertically recorded adult clips, primarily on mobile devices. Pornhub’s Help Center description of Shorties characterizes the feature as a scrolling experience for vertical videos and recommends viewing it on mobile.
Shorties is not simply a collection of videos called “Pornhub Shorts.” Shorties is the platform’s proper name, although “Pornhub Shorts” is a search phrase some readers may use. The format is built around rapid discovery: a user encounters one clip, moves through the feed, and can use engagement controls or creator-discovery features rather than navigating a conventional grid of full-length videos.

Early reporting described Shorties as a beta feature with likes, comments, and routes from short previews toward longer content. The feature’s later reported control set expanded to include Like, Follow, Favorite, Skip, smart recommendations, and “More of Me,” which is intended to help users discover more from a creator. XBIZ also reported a dedicated gay-content feed on Pornhub Gay and said a lesbian-focused feed was in development at the time of its November 2025 report. See XBIZ’s November 6, 2025 product coverage for the reported feature list.
Why does Shorties look like TikTok?
Shorties looks like TikTok because both products use a vertical, sequential video feed in which swiping or scrolling is the primary discovery action. The comparison is fair at the level of interface and content-consumption format, but the available research does not prove that Pornhub copied TikTok’s source code, proprietary technology, data practices, or recommendation algorithm.
TikTok’s official documentation says its For You recommendations can reflect signals such as watching similar posts, liking, commenting, sharing, following creators, and other interactions. Shorties has also been reported to use recommendations and engagement controls, so both services connect user activity with continued content discovery. TikTok’s documented recommendation signals are described in its official For You feed documentation.
The careful description is therefore “TikTok-like,” “TikTok-style,” or “a vertical swipe feed modeled on the short-form video format popularized by TikTok.” Saying that Pornhub “copied TikTok” works as a headline shorthand for the user experience. Saying that Pornhub copied TikTok’s code or algorithm would go beyond the evidence.

How does Pornhub Shorties work?
Pornhub Shorties works as a low-friction discovery feed: users scroll through vertically recorded clips, skip unwanted items, and interact with videos or creators to shape what they see next.
- Open the Shorties experience on a compatible mobile view. Pornhub’s own description emphasizes vertically recorded videos and mobile viewing.
- Scroll through the feed. The central interaction is sequential browsing through short previews rather than selecting one title from a static list.
- Use the available controls. XBIZ reported Like, Follow, Favorite, and Skip controls, along with “More of Me” for finding additional creator content.
- Let engagement influence discovery. Shorties has been reported to provide smart recommendations, but Pornhub has not publicly documented a detailed recommendation methodology in the sources reviewed for this article.
- Move from discovery to more content where available. The 2023 beta reporting described paths from short previews toward longer videos and creator content.
The exact interface can change by device, account state, geography, or later product updates. The product description above reflects the latest substantive launch report located in this research: XBIZ’s November 6, 2025 coverage.

User-generated definitions collected by Urban Dictionary’s goonscrolling entry connect the word with repeated searching and scrolling for pornography. A 2024 technology explainer similarly described “gooning” as slang associated with prolonged pornography viewing and related compulsive sexual behavior; that media usage should not be treated as a medical diagnosis. Stealth Optional’s explainer on the term provides that usage context.
The headline’s joke combines two ideas: the endless, low-friction swipe behavior associated with TikTok and the explicit content available on an adult platform. “Goonscrolling” describes a way people may talk online about that combination. It does not show that every Shorties user behaves compulsively, and no credible figure was found measuring how many users goonscroll, how long Shorties sessions last, or whether Shorties causes compulsive pornography use.
Does Shorties make people scroll longer?
No reliable evidence in the supplied research establishes that Shorties increases session length, addiction, or compulsive pornography use. Shorties is designed around rapid, personalized discovery, but a platform design feature is not proof of a clinical or behavioral outcome.
The distinction matters because “gooning” and “goonscrolling” are informal internet terms. They can describe prolonged viewing in ordinary online discussion, but they cannot substitute for a study measuring users, duration, impairment, or other clinical criteria. The available sources contain no credible published figure for Shorties users, average session length, prevalence of goonscrolling, or a causal relationship between the feature and compulsive use.

How important is Shorties to Pornhub’s mobile and advertising strategy?
Shorties appears commercially important enough to receive dedicated advertising inventory, although the available evidence does not show how many people use Shorties specifically. TrafficJunky’s June 2026 media kit lists a Shorties Floating Banner and Shorties video placements designed for the Pornhub Mobile Shorties feed.
According to TrafficJunky’s media kit (2026), the advertising network reports 127M+ daily average visitors. That figure is a TrafficJunky network advertising statistic, not a verified daily visitor count for Shorties alone and not necessarily a count for Pornhub alone.
According to TrafficJunky’s media kit (2026), reported traffic by device was 87% mobile, 11% desktop, and 2% tablet. Those figures describe the scope reported by TrafficJunky’s media kit; they are not an independently audited Shorties usage study.
For advertisers and media analysts, the relevant development is therefore Shorties advertising inventory, not a consumer product recommendation. The media kit’s formats suggest that Pornhub and its advertising ecosystem view the vertical mobile feed as a distinct commercial environment. The research does not verify an affiliate relationship, commission, or consumer offer connected to Shorties.

Pornhub did adopt a TikTok-like short-form video experience, and the feature is called Shorties. The resemblance is strongest in the vertical swipe feed, mobile emphasis, recommendations, and engagement controls. The evidence supports a claim about shared interface conventions and consumption behavior—not a claim that Pornhub copied TikTok’s proprietary code or algorithm.
