Check before you leave
- Dates and hours: Not every activity runs throughout the whole break. The Totally Lit Trail is listed for 5–11 October; museum trails and sessions may have their own operating windows.
- Admission and bookings: The Fremantle trail is described as free, while Zoo entry is ticketed and museum activities can have different admission or activity-charge arrangements. Check current fees directly. Some Fremantle activities require bookings, and Perth Zoo Animal Experiences are limited and can book out.
- Supervision and suitability: Children must be supervised at Naturescape. Boola Bardip identifies OceanXplorers as suitable for little explorers and primary-aged children; for activities without published age guidance, confirm suitability with the venue.
- Weather and energy: Kings Park play and nature activities are outdoors; the museum choices are indoors. Consider both the forecast and how much activity your family wants in one day.
- Access needs: Boola Bardip lists sensory backpacks for hire. Contact venues directly about other accessibility requirements.
Make a Kings Park visit your own
Kings Park’s self-guided wildflower trails offer another way to explore the park. Visit Perth describes the park as 400 hectares and says more than 3,000 wildflower species are on display; its visitor information identifies the September Kings Park Festival as the best time to view them, so don’t assume peak blooms continue throughout October. A “Stay Wild” Nature Journal is listed on the Kings Park events page through 11 October 2026. It is an optional companion, not a requirement for walking the trails. Check Kings Park events and visitor information.
