He said production was underway in Vancouver and that many months of filming and post-production remained. Disney later set the season’s premiere for December 10, 2025; its weekly release ended January 21, 2026.
What Rick Riordan said about Season 2 filming
In a November 2024 update, series creator Rick Riordan wrote that he had visited the Vancouver set and that filming was in progress. He said: “There are many months of filming yet to do, and then many months of post-production, but having read and weighed in on all the season two scripts, I’m confident this season will be even better, bigger, funnier, faster and wilder than season one.” Read his dated update on Rick Riordan’s blog.
That was a status report from 2024, not a new filming announcement. The available official statements do not establish a precise date when Season 2 wrapped filming, so a specific wrap date should not be inferred from Riordan’s estimate of the work still ahead.
When and where did filming begin?
Disney announced on July 25, 2024, that filming would begin the following week in Vancouver, British Columbia. The announcement also identified The Sea of Monsters as the season’s source novel and confirmed Daniel Diemer as Tyson, joining Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri as a series regular. Season 2 adapts Rick Riordan’s second Percy Jackson novel, The Sea of Monsters. After Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached, Percy sets out to find Grover and the Golden Fleece. Annabeth, Clarisse and Percy’s cyclops half-brother Tyson join the quest, which also brings Percy into conflict with Luke and the Titan Kronos. Disney’s synopsis and cast details are in its Season 2 press materials and D23’s December 2025 feature.
