Perez Hilton said in April 2026 that a three-week hospitalization for severe sepsis and infections prompted a religious turning point. In a social-media video, he apologized for past behavior, saying he had cared about views, attention and money without considering whom he hurt. Those are Hilton’s accounts as reported by news outlets; his medical experience and description of a miraculous encounter were not independently verified in the coverage.
What Perez Hilton apologized for
In an apology video covered by Fox News on April 5, 2026, Hilton said he regretted mistakes from his past and felt “deep shame and regret.” He added, “I will continue to apologize.”
Hilton described his former priorities this way: “Because I was so selfish, because I didn’t care who I hurt. I just cared about the views, the attention, the money.” He said he had apologized publicly and privately to dozens of people. That number is his reported description, not an independently verified count.
Entertainment Weekly, in a report republished by AOL on April 3, also covered the video. In a separate statement, Hilton said, “I don’t do gossip. I do celebrity journalism,” and described his work as a way to provide for his family. Those statements reflect Hilton’s own characterization of his conduct, not an independent assessment of it.

What he said happened during the medical scare
Fox News reported that Hilton said he had been hospitalized for three weeks with severe sepsis and infections. The outlet did not independently establish his medical history, and the reported duration and diagnosis should be understood as Hilton’s account.
Hilton said the experience changed his religious outlook and that he had begun reading the Bible again. He described the encounter in his video as: “God presented himself to me and then did something. Something I can only call miraculous… it was real, and this has been life-changing.” This is his account of a religious experience, not evidence that a supernatural event was independently established. The reports do not identify which Bible translation or edition he read.

How the later August hospitalization fits the timeline
The spring illness and apology are distinct from a later event reported by The Washington Post on August 5, 2026: Hilton was hospitalized after a livestreamed self-harm incident. The Post placed his spring statements in the context of his history of public apologies over his celebrity-blogging conduct. The available reporting does not establish a medical or causal connection between the August incident and the March hospitalization or his statements about faith, so they should not be conflated.
