But “unanimous” overstates what that evidence can show: selected YouTube comments and a separate Reddit discussion are not a representative measure of fan opinion.
Which Jimmy Kimmel interview is the story about?
The title refers to Mahomes’s appearance after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII in February 2023. A February 11, 2024, TheThings retrospective recounts the interview and reproduces favorable comments from its YouTube page.
Mahomes had also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2019. That was a separate visit, before that year’s ESPY Awards. KSHB 41’s report described topics including Mahomes’s personal life and Kansas City, and noted that he signed a fan’s tattoo. Those details concern the earlier appearance, not the 2023 post-Super Bowl conversation.
What did Mahomes discuss with Kimmel in 2023?
According to TheThings’s account, the conversation covered the Chiefs’ championship, the halftime show, a trick play and Mahomes’s smile on the field. The retrospective quotes him responding to a question about whether he watched the halftime show: “I didn’t, but I heard it was great.” It also describes him talking Kimmel through a play. These details are attributed to the retrospective, rather than independently verified against the original segment.

Why did some viewers praise Mahomes?
The favorable comments reproduced by TheThings praised different aspects of his public persona: humility, an engaging presence and a visible bond with Kansas City. They offer examples of why some viewers responded positively, but they are selected comments—not a poll, a systematic analysis of audience sentiment or evidence that every fan agreed.
Was the reaction really unanimous?
No available evidence establishes unanimity. A February 14, 2023, discussion on r/KansasCityChiefs includes both positive and negative reactions to a Kimmel interview. Like YouTube comments, a Reddit thread reflects the views of people who chose to participate; neither can establish what the wider fan base thought. No representative fan poll is identified in the cited material.

The most accurate description is therefore that the retrospective showcased enthusiastic praise, while other online discussion was mixed. The evidence supports “some viewers praised Mahomes,” not “fans unanimously approved.”
