Paramount+ error code 111 usually appears when the web player cannot load a required sponsor, advertising, or playback component. The most common trigger is blocking technology—such as an ad blocker, privacy shield, VPN filter, DNS filter, or antivirus web protection—but Paramount does not publish code 111 as a universal, fully defined error category.
Start by allowing ParamountPlus.com through your blocking tools, reload the page, and try the same video again. If that does not work, test a private window, clear Paramount+ site data, try another browser or device, and then check your network and app.
Fastest fix for Paramount+ error 111
- Temporarily disable ad-blocking and privacy extensions for ParamountPlus.com.
- Turn off site-specific browser protection, VPN filtering, DNS filtering, or antivirus web protection for the test.
- Reload Paramount+ and start the same title again.
- If it still fails, open Paramount+ in an Incognito or Private window.
Whenever possible, create a site-specific allowlist exception rather than disabling protection everywhere. Re-enable security tools after testing.

Paramount also notes that blocking tools can interfere with URLs used for analytics or other playback-related services, even when conventional advertisements are not visible in every viewing situation.

What does Paramount+ error code 111 mean?
In the common browser scenario, error 111 means Paramount+ could not load or verify a sponsor or advertising component required by the player. The on-screen message may ask you to disable ad-blocking or other “blocking technology.”
That does not prove an ad-blocking extension is installed. The same result can come from Brave Shields, Microsoft Edge Tracking Prevention, a VPN’s threat-protection feature, Pi-hole or NextDNS, router controls, antivirus web filtering, a managed school or workplace network, or a temporary Paramount-side failure.
Error 111 is therefore best treated as a playback-loading problem, not automatically as an account, payment, or subscription problem. Paramount’s public support material gives general streaming guidance but does not provide a definitive universal dictionary entry for code 111.
Browser-specific fixes
Chrome or Edge
- Open the browser’s extensions page.
- Temporarily switch off ad blockers, script blockers, privacy extensions, and browser security add-ons.
- Return to ParamountPlus.com, reload the page, and test playback.
In Edge, also test with Tracking Prevention set to Balanced rather than Strict. A Microsoft support-community report associates Edge tracking protection with error 111 and says allowing the site resolved playback; this is a user report, not an official Paramount diagnosis.
Brave
Select the Shields icon beside the address bar and temporarily lower or disable Shields for ParamountPlus.com. Reload the page and try the video again. Brave community reports also identify VPN filtering and related privacy controls as possible causes.

Firefox
Temporarily disable extensions, then reload Paramount+. If the problem continues, test Firefox Troubleshoot Mode or another clean browser profile. This helps distinguish an extension or customized privacy setting from a service-side problem.
Test a private window
Open an Incognito or Private window, sign in, and play the affected title.

- Works privately: an extension, cookie, cached permission, or privacy setting is probably interfering.
- Still fails privately: continue with site-data, browser, device, and network tests.
Clear Paramount+ site data
Remove cookies and cached files for ParamountPlus.com rather than immediately deleting all browser data. Close every Paramount+ tab, clear the site data, restart the browser, sign in again, and test playback.
Clearing site data may sign you out and remove saved preferences, but it does not cancel your subscription. Paramount’s streaming troubleshooting instructions recommend clearing cache and cookies for browser playback problems.
Check VPN, antivirus, and DNS filtering
Even if no browser extension is installed, another layer may be blocking the request. For a short diagnostic test:

- Disconnect the VPN, or disable only its ad-blocking or threat-protection feature.
- Temporarily pause antivirus web protection or create a ParamountPlus.com exception.
- Check Pi-hole, NextDNS, router parental controls, or other DNS filtering.
- Test on a network without those controls, such as a mobile hotspot.
A VPN can also cause problems through shared or flagged IP addresses, DNS filtering, or regional-content checks. Disconnect it only where permitted by Paramount’s terms and local law; do not use a VPN to bypass geographic availability restrictions.
Do not permanently disable antivirus, firewall, or filtering protection. Changing DNS is a later diagnostic step because it affects broader device or network traffic and can have privacy and security consequences.
Update or change your browser
- Update your current browser.
- Try another supported browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
- Test the same title again.
If playback works in another browser, focus on the original browser’s extensions, cookies, privacy settings, security software, and—only as a secondary experiment—hardware acceleration. Paramount recommends using an up-to-date supported browser and trying an alternative browser when streaming fails.
Fix error 111 in the Paramount+ Windows app or another device
If you see error 111 in the Windows app, or if playback fails on a TV or streaming device, use the app-specific sequence:
- Force-close Paramount+.
- Check for app and device updates.
- Restart the device.
- Clear the app cache or data if the platform provides that option.
- Uninstall and reinstall Paramount+.
- Sign in again and retry playback.
Reinstalling does not itself cancel a subscription, but it may remove downloads and local settings. You will need to sign in again. Menu names vary by Windows version, Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast, and other platforms.

If Paramount+ works in a browser but not in the app, the problem is more likely to be app files, app permissions, or the app’s device environment than the subscription itself.
Restart the device and router
Close Paramount+ completely and restart the computer, phone, TV, or streaming device. If the problem remains, restart the network:
- Unplug the router.
- If you have a separate modem, unplug it first.
- Wait about 10 seconds.
- Reconnect the modem first, then the router.
- Wait for the connection to return and test Paramount+ again.
This is a standard step in Paramount’s official streaming troubleshooting guidance.
Use these tests to identify the cause

These are diagnostic inferences, not official definitions of error code 111.
Does an ad-free plan prevent error 111?
Do not assume it will. Even a commercial-free plan may still require authentication, analytics, playback, or other network calls. Upgrading your plan is not a reliable fix for a browser or network blocking conflict. Allowing the required Paramount+ traffic is the more appropriate first step.

When is Paramount+ probably having a service-side problem?
Suspect a service-side or title-specific issue when the error continues after you have:
- Tested a Private window and a second browser.
- Disabled extensions and site-specific filtering.
- Tested a second device.
- Tested a different network.
- Updated or reinstalled the app where applicable.
Check Paramount’s official channels for current service information. Do not assume that every error 111 report means Paramount is down: if only one browser or home network fails, the cause is probably local.
When to contact Paramount+ support
Contact Paramount when the same account and title fail across updated browsers or devices and different networks, or when you suspect an account-specific issue. Use the official Paramount contact page rather than unverified support phone numbers.
Include the exact error code, title, device, browser or app version, time of failure, and the tests that succeeded or failed. This gives support a useful comparison instead of only reporting that playback does not work.
