If Pandora times out while you are signing in, force-close the app, restart your device, update Pandora, and try again. If sign-in still fails, reset your password. On Android, clear the app cache before trying the more disruptive step of clearing app data. If music stops only after you have left it playing unattended and Pandora asks whether you are still listening, tap the player: that is a different kind of timeout.
First, identify which timeout you have
Pandora’s timeout wording can describe different problems, and the right fix depends on when it appears.
- During sign-in or immediately after opening the app: “Your Pandora session timed out,” “Session timed out,” or “We’re experiencing technical difficulties” may point to an expired app login, a local app problem, a network issue, or a temporary Pandora-side incident. If you see “Incorrect email or password,” check the account email and reset the password if needed.
- After music has played unattended: “Are you still listening?” is an inactivity prompt. It does not necessarily mean your account session is broken. Tap or click the player when prompted to continue.
- Network message or error code: “Can’t connect to network” suggests checking the connection. If you see error 3007, note the exact wording, but do not assume the code always means a session timeout; the available official guidance does not establish that as a universal diagnosis.
Pandora says its inactivity policy is intended to limit unattended streaming. Paid plans may provide longer timeout periods, but they do not remove the policy. Pandora’s explanation of the “Are you still listening?” prompt describes tapping the player to resume.

- Force-close Pandora and reopen it. If the app is stuck or has an expired session, a fresh launch may restore it.
- Restart your phone, tablet, or computer.
- Update Pandora from the App Store, Google Play, or the app store used by your device.
- Test another connection. Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data, or try another network. If you use a VPN, private DNS, filtering software, or a Wi-Fi sign-in page, temporarily disable or complete it for the test. These are general diagnostic checks, not confirmed causes in every Pandora timeout.
- Try Pandora on the web or another device. If the web player works but the app does not, focus on the affected device’s app state, compatibility, or network settings. If both web and app fail, investigate the password, network, location availability, or a possible service incident.
- If the error occurs at sign-in, reset your password once. Use the email address associated with the Pandora account.
- On Android, clear the app cache. Clear app data only if the cache step does not help and you can sign in again.
- Reinstall Pandora only after the earlier steps fail. Reinstalling refreshes local app files; it cannot fix an outage, account credentials, or a network restriction.
Android: clear Pandora’s cache, then app data if needed
Menu names vary by Android version and manufacturer. Look for the closest equivalent to this path:

- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, Apps & notifications, or Application manager.
- Select Pandora.
- Tap Storage & cache or Storage.
- Tap Clear cache, then reopen Pandora and test it.
If that does not help, return to Pandora’s storage screen and choose Clear storage, Clear data, or the equivalent. This signs you out and may remove local app settings, so make sure you know your account email and password first. It does not delete your Pandora account or cancel a subscription. If playback works until you switch apps or lock the screen and then stops, Android may be limiting background activity. Check your device’s battery or background-use settings for Pandora; exact labels differ across manufacturers, so there is no single reliable menu path for every Android phone.
iPhone and iPad: restart, update, or reinstall
iOS does not provide a universal Android-style “clear cache” setting for Pandora. Instead:

- Force-close Pandora, then open it again.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Install any available Pandora update from the App Store.
- If the error persists, delete Pandora, reinstall it from the App Store, and sign in again.
Before deleting the app, make sure you know the account email and password. Reinstalling can refresh the app, but it will not correct an account-wide sign-in issue or a service outage.
Browser or desktop: check the session and browser state
If Pandora is failing in a browser, sign out and back in, then try a private or incognito window. Temporarily disable extensions that filter traffic or modify pages, test another supported browser, and try without a VPN. If the private window works, browser cookies, stored site data, or an extension may be involved; clearing Pandora’s site data can be a next step, but it will sign you out.
If Pandora works in a browser but not in its app, the account is less likely to be the sole problem. Concentrate on the app update, local app state, and the failing device’s network settings.

Reset your Pandora password if login is failing
Pandora’s reset flow requires access to the email inbox associated with the account.

- In the mobile app: Tap Forgot Password below the sign-in fields, enter the account email, and follow the email instructions.
Check Spam or Junk if the message does not arrive. If you cannot remember the account email or no longer have access to that inbox, Pandora’s password-reset guidance directs users to contact support and provide possible email addresses.
A password reset is most useful when the error appears during sign-in or the credentials are rejected. It is not a good first response to an inactivity prompt or a connection problem.

Pandora previously confirmed a multi-device login issue involving session errors and marked that incident resolved on April 16, 2023. That historical event shows that not every timeout is local to a device; it does not establish Pandora’s current service status. Check current official channels rather than relying on an old incident report. Pandora’s resolved incident thread also shows the kinds of device details support may request.
When to contact Pandora
Contact Pandora support if the password reset fails, you cannot access the account email, or the same sign-in error persists across the app and web after checking another network. Include:

If the issue happens only outside the United States, location may be relevant because availability can vary by geography, but the official sources cited here do not confirm that being outside the U.S. is the cause of this particular message. Avoid treating it as a certain diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does clearing Pandora’s cache delete my account?
No. Clearing an Android app cache does not delete your Pandora account. Clearing app data signs you out and can remove local settings, but it does not delete the account.
Does clearing app data cancel my Pandora subscription?
No. Clearing local app data does not cancel a subscription, though you will need to sign in again.
Does Pandora Plus or Premium prevent timeout messages?
No. Pandora says paid plans can have longer inactivity intervals, but the “Are you still listening?” policy remains.
Can a VPN cause a Pandora session timeout?
A VPN or network filter is a reasonable troubleshooting variable if Pandora works on another connection, but the available Pandora sources do not establish it as a universal cause.
