This framing matters. A model that finds an association between lyrics and chart appearance would not show that particular words cause commercial success. Chart performance can also reflect promotion, artist reputation, production, release timing, audience reach, playlist exposure, and many other factors.

What can rap lyrics tell us about changing hip-hop themes?
Topic modeling treats a large collection of documents as mixtures of recurring word patterns. Applied to lyrics, it can group songs by vocabulary and show whether the prevalence of those patterns differs across periods. In this project, that technique was intended to examine changes in hip-hop themes over time.
The description does not identify the resulting topics or document a specific trend. Claims such as a particular subject becoming more common, or one era replacing another thematically, would therefore go beyond the evidence available for this project.

Why the missing methodology changes how the project should be read
Data and labels
Without the collection method, it is unknown which artists and songs were included, how lyrics were obtained, or how Billboard appearance was assigned. Those choices determine what population the analysis represents.
Model evaluation
A credible prediction result would require a clearly defined train/test procedure, leakage controls, a baseline, class-balance information, and out-of-sample metrics. None of those figures is supplied in the project descriptions.

Even a strong out-of-sample result would support prediction under the project’s conditions, not a causal theory of why songs succeed. Topic-model outputs would likewise be exploratory patterns that depend on preprocessing and model settings.
