What the 2025 Oscar results mean
Anora dominated the top of the ballot
Anora won five Oscars, more than any other film: Best Picture, Directing, Actress in a Leading Role, Film Editing and Original Screenplay. Four of those awards were connected directly to Sean Baker: he shared the Best Picture credit as a producer, won Directing, won Film Editing and won Original Screenplay. Mikey Madison’s Best Actress victory completed the film’s strongest run of the night.
The acting awards were spread across four movies
Unlike the overall film totals, the acting categories produced no double winner. Adrien Brody won Actor in a Leading Role for The Brutalist; Kieran Culkin won Actor in a Supporting Role for A Real Pain; Mikey Madison won Actress in a Leading Role for Anora; and Zoe Saldaña won Actress in a Supporting Role for Emilia Pérez.

The Brutalist led among the major craft winners
The Brutalist earned three awards, recognizing Brody’s performance as well as Lol Crawley’s cinematography and Daniel Blumberg’s original score. Dune: Part Two won both of its nominations in Sound and Visual Effects. Wicked won Costume Design and Production Design, while Emilia Pérez paired Saldaña’s acting award with the Oscar for “El Mal.”

Brazil won International Feature Film with I’m Still Here. That result should not be confused with the film’s country and title: the Academy’s winning entry identifies Brazil as the country and I’m Still Here as the film.
No Other Land won Documentary Feature Film, while The Only Girl in the Orchestra won Documentary Short Film. Flow, representing Latvia in the International Feature Film race, won Animated Feature Film instead; it did not win International Feature Film.
