What the chapter 972 Reddit spoiler thread says
The r/OnePiece “Chapter 972 Spoilers” thread was posted on February 18, 2020. It shared a translated spoiler summary and early-release discussion, with readers asking whether the flashback was over. One commenter tentatively answered, “I think so.” That exchange shows how some readers interpreted the spoilers at the time; it does not establish the chapter’s exact ending or make the fan translation authoritative. Read the Reddit spoiler discussion.
Does chapter 972 end Oden’s flashback?
The Reddit thread supports the narrower claim that readers expected the flashback to close. To verify the precise transition—what happens in the final scenes and when the narrative returns to the present—read the official chapter rather than relying on a translated spoiler summary. VIZ has an official One Piece chapter 972 page. The available source information does not establish a definitive panel-level transition, so it is safer to describe the Reddit claim as reader interpretation rather than confirmed scene detail.
When the spoiler discussion and official release appeared
The spoiler thread is dated February 18, 2020. A separate r/OnePiece official-release discussion, dated February 21, says the chapter was out on Manga Plus. Those are dates reported by the Reddit posts, not independently verified publisher schedule dates. The later thread is useful for seeing reader reactions, but its comments are interpretations rather than official chapter text. Read the official-release discussion.

Where to read or collect chapter 972
Official digital chapter
VIZ’s Shonen Jump page is an official chapter-reading reference. Use the licensed text if you want to check exact dialogue, panels, and the flashback’s transition.

Rank #2
Manga chapter 972 is not anime episode 972
The matching number can be confusing: manga chapters and anime episodes use separate numbering systems. ONE PIECE.com labels anime episode 972 “決着の時! おでんVSカイドウ!” (“The Time Has Come! Oden vs. Kaido”), and its news overview groups episodes 967–972 with the Oden-and-Roger story and return to Wano. Those anime listings provide adaptation context; they do not confirm the manga chapter’s structure or ending. See the official anime episode 972 page and the official news overview.
