Gyeongseong Creature returned to Netflix with Season 2 on September 27, 2024. The new season moves the story from Japanese-occupied Gyeongseong in 1945 to Seoul in 2024, where Yoon Chae-ok encounters Ho-jae, a man who resembles Jang Tae-sang. It is a continuation shaped by a dramatic shift in time and setting—not a new 2026 release.

What is Gyeongseong Creature about?

Season 1 begins in spring 1945, when Seoul was known as Gyeongseong and Korea was under Japanese colonial rule. Jang Tae-sang and sleuth Yoon Chae-ok become entangled in a mystery involving creatures connected to human experimentation and greed. The series combines period drama, horror, and investigation.

For a concise premise and the original headline’s identification of the series, see BGR’s October 1, 2024 article.

What changes in Season 2?

Season 2 shifts the action to Seoul in 2024. Chae-ok meets Ho-jae, whose resemblance to Tae-sang connects the new setting to the unresolved mysteries and character ties of the first season.

Netflix Tudum describes the second season as having “a completely different charm,” with its change in place and period creating a distinction and an expanded-universe feel. The quote is from director Chung Dong-yoon, in Netflix Tudum’s March 5, 2024 feature.
