His early interests included singing, dancing, theater and other forms of performance, a background that eventually led to work in daytime television, film, theater and video games. Biographical information collected by IMDb identifies those family and early-life details.

Antonio’s story was unusually broad for a daytime-drama character. He was introduced as a former gang member who turned his life around, becoming a lawyer and later a police officer. The role allowed de los Reyes to play a character defined not only by conflict and romance, but also by rehabilitation, ambition and service to his community.
The series also shaped de los Reyes’ personal life. He met actress Sherri Saum while they were working on One Life to Live. Saum played Keri Reynolds, Antonio’s romantic partner, and the two later married. Their family included twin sons Michael and John, as well as Caylen, de los Reyes’ child from an earlier relationship.
His video-game legacy as Raul Menendez
For audiences outside daytime television, de los Reyes may be especially familiar as the voice and motion-capture performer for Raul Menendez, the central villain of Activision and Treyarch’s 2012 game Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Menendez is an antagonist—not the game’s protagonist—and the character became one of the most recognizable villains in the Call of Duty franchise. De los Reyes supplied the performance’s physical presence and voice work, helping give Menendez the intensity and emotional force that made him memorable. Official franchise material identifies Menendez as a major figure first introduced in Black Ops II, while the game’s official manual credits de los Reyes for the “Niño Precioso” vocal associated with the Raul Menendez theme. See Call of Duty’s official franchise material for the character’s place in the series.

Film, theater and later television work
De los Reyes worked in film before and alongside his soap-opera career. His reported screen credits include the 1988 musical Salsa, East L.A. Warriors, Ghetto Blaster, Coldfire, Oliver Stone’s Nixon, The Cell and Amelia 2.0.
His stage work included the 1994 off-Broadway production Blade to the Heat. In 1995, he appeared in a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest with Patrick Stewart. These credits reflected the range of his training and experience beyond the daily schedule and heightened melodrama of daytime television.

His later television appearances included Sleepy Hollow, The Rookie, Shooter, SEAL Team, MacGyver, The Gifted and All American. On All American, he played Coach Montes. On The Rookie, he appeared as Detective Sergeant Ryan Caradine.
Reports published after his death also referred to filmed work connected with the then-upcoming series Washington Black and Marvel’s Daredevil project. Because posthumous release schedules and final cast credits can change, those projects should be verified against the official released credits rather than treated as confirmed available performances.

His family life and professional history connected several performance traditions: his father’s Cuban percussion work, his own stage and screen acting, his daytime television popularity and the motion-capture performance that introduced him to a large video-game audience. That combination helps explain why tributes to de los Reyes reached well beyond the soap-opera community.

De los Reyes’ most visible roles occupied very different parts of popular entertainment. Antonio Vega was a long-form television character whose development unfolded over years. Raul Menendez, by contrast, was a concentrated, high-intensity video-game performance built around voice, movement and cinematic storytelling. In both cases, de los Reyes brought authority and emotional weight to characters whose histories extended beyond a simple hero-versus-villain description.
