Oddity is a supernatural horror film about a blind occultist pursuing the truth behind her twin sister’s murder. Written and directed by Damian McCarthy, it puts Darcy’s haunted objects—and a frightening wooden mannequin—at the center of a revenge-driven mystery. It is a focused choice for viewers who want eerie supernatural imagery alongside an investigation, rather than a documentary or a true-crime account.
What is Oddity about?
Darcy, a blind occultist, investigates the murder of her twin sister, Dani. She draws on inherited haunted items as tools of revenge and to pursue those responsible. The premise makes Darcy’s blindness and occult practice central to the story, not incidental character details. SXSW’s 2024 festival listing also singled out a frightening wooden mannequin as part of the film’s supernatural spectacle.
The official site’s tagline, “Every Murder Lives On,” captures the film’s link between murder and the supernatural without revealing the mystery’s answers.
Is Oddity a supernatural horror?
Yes. Its official synopsis frames the story around a blind occultist, haunted items and revenge, while the festival description identifies a medium and a frightening mannequin. The horror therefore grows from both the murder investigation and the objects Darcy uses; it is not simply a conventional crime story with supernatural decoration.
