Oddbodz is represented here by a mid-1990s Australian and New Zealand snack-packet release, while Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) is an ongoing Topps property with modern anniversary and themed products. The resemblance supports a comparison of artwork, collecting and distribution—not a claim that one series was created by, licensed from or directly inspired by the other.
Quick verdict
If you are trying to identify a childhood card from a Smith’s or Bluebird snack packet, start with Oddbodz rather than assuming it is a regional GPK card. If you want a currently documented product line with multiple card types and new releases, GPK has the clearer modern collecting structure. If you want to decide which line is rarer or more valuable, the available records are not sufficient: that judgment requires a specific card, condition, edition, location and dated sale evidence.

What the documented Oddbodz release was
The clearest catalogued example is the 1995 Glow Zone The Oddbodz set. The Trading Card Database lists the checklist as 61 cards, with the numbering sequence GHC-01 through GHC-61. That record is useful for identifying cards and checking whether a supposed complete run is missing a number.
The same entry says the cards were distributed in specially marked Smith’s Chips packages in Australia and Bluebird Chips packages in New Zealand. This explains why memories of the cards often involve snack food rather than a traditional hobby-shop pack. It also makes geography important: a card found in an Australian collection may have entered circulation through a different product channel from one found in New Zealand.

The checklist is a collector database entry, not a surviving manufacturer archive. It documents the set and the reported distribution, but it does not establish who created the characters, how many copies were printed, whether every package contained a card, or whether the release had undisclosed variants. Those details should not be filled in by analogy with GPK.
What a 61-card checklist tells a collector
The number 61 is a checklist count, not necessarily a statement about every item that could have been found in a packet. It gives you a practical audit trail: record GHC-01, GHC-02 and so on through GHC-61, then mark whether each number is present, duplicated or still wanted. Keep the card number as the primary identifier even if a seller uses a character nickname or an informal description.
A complete numbered run is also different from a complete historical package. The database record does not say that wrappers, display cartons or promotional material belong to the checklist, nor does it verify variations in printing or packaging. If a seller advertises a “complete Oddbodz collection,” ask whether that means all 61 card numbers, a group of loose cards, or cards plus original snack packaging.
What modern Garbage Pail Kids releases document
2025 40th Anniversary product
Topps’s official GPK 40th Anniversary – Worst Of page describes a 100-card base set built around popular GPK characters. It also lists rare artist autograph cards, inserts, parallels and sketch cards. That combination gives collectors several layers to chase beyond completing the base checklist.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe product page reported the hobby box and sealed case as sold out at the time it was crawled. A sell-out notice is a snapshot of that listing, not proof that every box is permanently unavailable or that secondary-market prices will rise. Stock, allocations and resale listings can change.
For cataloguing, separate the 100 base cards from every premium category. A binder page containing a parallel should not be counted as a missing base number, and an autograph or sketch should be recorded with its own category and identifying details. The product description establishes that these categories exist; it does not provide a universal print-run or a guaranteed pull rate for each one.
2026 Bizarre Competitions
Topps Ripped describes 2026 Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Bizarre Competitions as a six-week online-exclusive release. Each weekly drop contains five characters with A/B name variations and a 10-card base set. Across all six waves, the guide describes 60 base cards.
The guide quotes Topps product manager Francis: “The real events are already so fun and unusual that they felt like they belonged in the Garbage Pail Kids world.” The quotation explains the concept of the themed release; it does not connect GPK to Oddbodz or establish a shared origin.
The schedule changes how you collect the set. Save the date or wave information shown with each purchase, retain order confirmations and label cards by their weekly release. A card with an A name and its B-name counterpart should be treated as two checklist entries when you are building the 60-card base run. Do not assume that a character appearing in one wave is interchangeable with a similarly illustrated card from another release.

Set size and format: why the numbers do not tell the whole story
On a checklist level, the Oddbodz entry is a single, finite sequence. A collector can list the card numbers, mark each one as found and look for gaps. The modern GPK examples are more layered. The anniversary product separates its base set from premium categories, while Bizarre Competitions divides its base cards into scheduled weekly waves and uses paired A/B names for its characters.
That difference changes the practical meaning of “complete.” For Oddbodz, a claimant may mean one numbered run. For the anniversary GPK product, “complete” could mean the base cards only, or the base cards plus inserts, parallels, autographs and sketches. For Bizarre Competitions, a collector may also need to track each weekly release and both name versions. Always ask which checklist scope someone is using before comparing collections.
Do not compare 61, 100 and 60 as a scarcity ranking
Those figures describe different products and counting rules. Oddbodz’s 61 is the count in a single 1995 checklist record. The anniversary figure is a 100-card base set with additional categories listed separately. The Bizarre Competitions figure is 60 base cards spread over six online-exclusive weekly drops. None of those numbers is a print run, an odds statement or a measure of surviving cards.

A smaller checklist can be easier to complete but not automatically harder to find. A larger modern checklist can have more cards in circulation while premium inserts are more difficult to locate. To compare difficulty honestly, specify the exact release, whether you mean base cards or all categories, and the market in which you are searching.
Geography and regional names
Oddbodz should not be conflated with regional GPK editions. A specialist reference covering Australia and New Zealand documents a GPK line called “The Garbage Gang”; see Garbage Pail Kids World’s Australia The Garbage Gang Series 2 reference. “The Garbage Gang” is a regional GPK name, whereas Oddbodz is the separate title used on the snack-packet checklist described above.
Regional naming matters when searching auction listings, collector forums and image results. A seller may use an English-language GPK title, a local title or a character name. Searching only “Garbage Pail Kids” can therefore miss regional material, while searching “Oddbodz” does not prove that an item belongs to GPK.
When a card comes from Australia or New Zealand, photograph any wrapper or printed text before discarding it. Record the country, the wording on the packet and the seller’s description. That context can help distinguish a locally distributed Oddbodz item from a regional GPK issue, but it is still supporting evidence: the card’s own title, numbering and design must agree.

Artwork and tone: similar appeal, different evidence
Both lines appeal to collectors who enjoy exaggerated, messy or deliberately unpleasant humor. That shared tone is a legitimate reason to place them in the same conversation. It is not evidence of a licensing arrangement, a spin-off or a direct response.
The documented Oddbodz checklist does not identify a creator or describe a production team. Topps’s current pages identify GPK as a Topps brand and describe its own product formats. Without a primary Oddbodz announcement, contract, packaging archive or creator statement, the safest historical conclusion is that the two lines can be compared by appearance and audience while their provenance remains separate and unproven.

Visual resemblance is especially unreliable when a scan is cropped or a card has been removed from its wrapper. Use several identifiers together: printed series title, card number, back design, copyright line, language, and any release or wave notation. A gross-out image by itself cannot establish which line produced it.
Availability, scarcity and value
No fair numerical ranking of value is established by the cited material. A card’s market outcome depends on its exact number, surface and corners, whether it is authenticated, the language and regional release, the date of the sale and the buyer pool. Even an apparent “complete set” can mean different things when one product has only a numbered base checklist and another has inserts and parallels.
Recommended Free Tools
The Oddbodz record does not provide a current inventory or comparable sale history. The GPK anniversary page’s sold-out label records a page condition at one moment, not a print run, a scarcity ratio or a guaranteed resale premium. Treat unsourced claims such as “Oddbodz is rarer than GPK” or “GPK always sells for more” as unverified until they specify the cards and transactions being compared.
A defensible way to compare asking prices
- Match the exact item. Compare the same GHC number or GPK release and category, not merely cards with similar artwork.
- Match condition. Note creases, whitening, scratches, stains, bends and writing. A loose card and a sealed product are different markets.
- Match geography and language. An Australian or New Zealand issue may attract a different buyer pool from a North American listing.
- Use dated completed sales when possible. An asking price or an old sold listing does not establish today’s value.
- Describe the comparison. State whether you are comparing one card, a 61-card Oddbodz run, a 100-card GPK base set, or a premium subset.
If those details are unavailable, the honest conclusion is that value is undetermined, not that one line wins.
How to identify an Oddbodz card
- Check the title and numbering. Look for the Oddbodz name and compare the card number with the GHC-01 through GHC-61 sequence recorded for the 1995 Glow Zone set.
- Record where it came from. Note whether the card was found in Australia, New Zealand or elsewhere, and preserve any packet, wrapper or childhood collection note. The reported Smith’s and Bluebird distribution is a useful lead, not a substitute for examining the card itself.
- Compare the physical design. Use the checklist entry and clear scans to compare front, back, numbering and copyright text. Do not classify a card from its gross-out artwork alone.
- Separate the card from its provenance. A card bought in a modern online listing may have an uncertain history even if the card image matches a checklist. Photograph both sides and retain the seller’s description and purchase date.
- Check for gaps and duplicates. Enter all 61 numbers in a spreadsheet or paper checklist. Mark duplicates separately so a duplicate does not hide a missing number.
How to identify a GPK card without confusing regional issues
- Start with the release name. Determine whether the item is from the 2025 40th Anniversary product, the 2026 Bizarre Competitions series or an older or regional issue.
- Check the checklist category. Decide whether you are looking at a base card, insert, parallel, autograph or sketch. The anniversary product explicitly uses those categories.
- Check the wave and name variation. For Bizarre Competitions, record the weekly drop and whether the character is the A or B name version.
- Check regional terminology. Australian and New Zealand material may use “The Garbage Gang.” That name identifies a regional GPK edition, not Oddbodz.
- Keep product evidence. Save the listing, order email or packaging that identifies the release. Modern GPK products can have similar visual treatment across different drops.
Buying checklist and common pitfalls
Before buying an Oddbodz lot, ask for front-and-back photographs, the individual GHC numbers, the country of origin and any wrapper information. Count the cards yourself rather than accepting “near complete” as equivalent to a full 61-card run. Look for surface damage caused by storage in snack packets, loose boxes or damp conditions, and ask whether cards have been trimmed, written on or exposed to adhesive.
For GPK, ask whether a listing is for base cards only or includes inserts, parallels, autographs or sketches. Confirm the exact product year and release name. In Bizarre Competitions listings, ask which weekly wave and which A/B name variation are included. A photograph of five cards is not proof that a lot contains all six waves or all 60 base cards.
Do not use a sold-out Topps page as proof that a particular resale listing is authentic or fairly priced. Verify the seller’s photographs, return terms and card descriptions. A sealed case, an opened hobby box and a loose single should never be treated as interchangeable units.
Collecting and storage decisions
Use a checklist before buying duplicates. For Oddbodz, mark the numbered sequence and write down the packet or collection history. For GPK, keep separate columns for base cards and premium categories, then add release-wave information for Bizarre Competitions. This prevents an insert from being mistaken for a missing base card and prevents a regional title from being filed under the wrong series.
Do not assume a sleeve or binder page size from the series name. The cited material does not verify Oddbodz card dimensions or a compatible sleeve specification. Measure an actual card, compare the internal dimensions of the sleeve, and avoid forcing a card into a pocket that can catch corners or abrade the surface.

A community question on Reddit’s r/australia asks whether people remember Oddbodz cards in Smiths chips around 1995–1996. That wording is useful because it mirrors how many people search for the cards, but a recollection thread is not a manufacturer record. Use it to locate leads, photographs and other collectors; use the catalogued checklist to verify the card sequence.
The one-year difference between the checklist’s 1995 description and a person’s memory of “1995–1996” is not enough to rewrite the set date. Memories often cover the period when someone owned or traded cards, rather than the exact release year. Cite the 1995 checklist record for the documented set and label personal recollections as recollections.

Frequently asked questions
Are Oddbodz and Garbage Pail Kids the same cards?
No. The documented Oddbodz record describes a 1995 Glow Zone set, while GPK is a Topps property with separate releases. Similar gross-out styling does not establish that Oddbodz was a GPK edition or licensed product.
How many cards are in the Oddbodz set?
The Trading Card Database record lists 61 cards, numbered GHC-01 through GHC-61. That is the documented checklist count for the 1995 Glow Zone set; it is not a verified print-run figure.

The checklist record reports distribution in specially marked Smith’s Chips packages in Australia and Bluebird Chips packages in New Zealand. Keep that attribution tied to the database record, because it is not a manufacturer archive.
How many cards are in the 2025 GPK anniversary base set?
Topps describes a 100-card base set. The same product page lists autographs, inserts, parallels and sketch cards as additional collecting categories.
What is GPK Bizarre Competitions?
Topps Ripped describes it as a six-week online-exclusive release. Each weekly drop has a 10-card base set and five characters with A/B name variations, for 60 base cards across the six waves.
Is “The Garbage Gang” another name for Oddbodz?
No. “The Garbage Gang” is documented as a regional GPK name in an Australia and New Zealand reference. It should be catalogued separately from Oddbodz.

Which series is rarer?
There is no supported overall answer. The cited material does not provide comparable print runs, surviving populations or dated sales for both lines. Rarity must be assessed for a particular card, edition, condition and market.
Are GPK anniversary boxes still sold out?
The Topps page showed the hobby box and sealed case as sold out when it was crawled. That status can change and does not prove permanent scarcity or a resale premium.
What sleeves fit Oddbodz cards?
The cited records do not verify Oddbodz dimensions. Measure an actual card and compare it with the sleeve’s internal dimensions before purchasing supplies.
Bottom line
Oddbodz is best understood as a documented 1995 Glow Zone snack-packet set associated with Australia and New Zealand, while GPK is a continuing Topps line with modern base sets, themed waves and premium inserts. They share a gross-out collecting audience, but the available evidence does not establish a direct creative relationship. Identify the exact release first, then judge completeness, condition and price on that release’s own terms.
