Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6–7, 2026, in the US, and Amazon has announced thousands of print-book deals with discounts of up to 65%. That is an advertised maximum—not a discount guaranteed on every book or format. Check each live listing for its edition, price, seller, and stock before buying. Amazon’s event announcement gives the event dates; its book announcement names Wishbone Kitchen by Meredith Hayden as an example, but does not confirm a current discount for that title.
What to expect from October Prime Day book deals
The event’s official name is Prime Big Deal Days. In the US, Amazon says it begins October 6, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. PDT and runs for 48 hours, through October 7. Dates may differ by country. Amazon describes the event as offering Prime-member-exclusive deals across more than 35 categories. See Amazon’s event details.
Amazon has announced thousands of print-book deals with discounts of up to 65%. The figure is the maximum advertised discount for the announced print-book offers; it does not mean every title—or every edition of a title—will be discounted by that amount. The announcement does not provide a title-by-title inventory of hardcover and paperback offers. Amazon’s book announcement names Wishbone Kitchen by Meredith Hayden as an example, but a live listing is needed to establish its format, price, seller, and availability.
How to check a book deal before you buy
- Open the product listing and confirm the format. Check whether the offer is for hardcover, paperback, or Kindle ebook. A discount on a print edition does not establish a discount on the Kindle edition.
- Check the displayed price, seller, and availability. Confirm the seller and whether the edition is in stock; deal prices and supplies can change.
- Compare the price with its recent history, where available. Amazon’s event guidance points shoppers to price history and deal alerts. A discount label alone does not show how the current price compares with recent prices. Read Amazon’s event shopping guidance.
- Recheck close to purchase. Amazon says event deals drop three times a day and last only while supplies last, so availability and price may change.
Keep Kindle purchases separate from reading subscriptions
Amazon has also announced three months free of Kindle Unlimited and two free Amazon First Reads Kindle books for eligible Prime members, alongside four months of Audible Standard for $0.99 per month. Terms and eligibility apply; check the offer terms before enrolling. These are subscription or selection offers, not evidence that a particular Kindle ebook purchase is discounted. Check Amazon’s book-offer announcement.

Choose the offer that matches how you want to read: a hardcover or paperback is a print-book purchase, a Kindle listing is an ebook purchase, and Kindle Unlimited, First Reads, or Audible are separate offers with their own terms. Compare the specific format and listing rather than treating them as interchangeable deals.
