In OBS, use the rate that matches the codec you actually select, set rate control to CBR, and use a two-second keyframe interval. Those targets are not a guarantee that every Airtel Xstream Fiber connection can sustain 4K60: measure the upload available to your streaming computer and test the stream before relying on it.
OBS settings for 4K60 YouTube Live
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends these video bitrates for 2160p at 60 fps. The figures are video bitrate only; audio and other network traffic add to the upstream load. YouTube’s encoder settings also advises choosing a quality your connection can reliably sustain.

Codec choice changes the bitrate target: do not use the H.264 recommendation for an AV1 or HEVC encode, or vice versa. Use a codec your OBS encoder and hardware support, and verify which encoder is active in OBS. The YouTube page supports H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 ingestion over RTMP/RTMPS.
Can Airtel Xstream Fiber sustain 4K60?
There is no single Airtel Xstream Fiber upload speed that applies to every customer. Airtel lists multiple plans and notes that availability varies by location. An advertised plan speed or a brief speed-test peak is not proof of sustained upload capacity to YouTube. Check Airtel’s broadband plans for your locality, then test the connection used by the streaming PC.

Airtel’s QoS report for the quarter ending December 2025 gives examples for specific tariffs: tariff 398 — Airtel showed 30 Mbps offered typical upload and 30 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload; tariff 499 — Airtel showed 40 Mbps offered typical upload and 43 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload. These report figures describe those tariffs and period; they do not guarantee the capacity of an individual address, the current plan, a Wi-Fi link, or the route to YouTube. See Airtel’s QoS reports.
Because the recommended 4K60 video rates are 35 or 50 Mbps before audio and other traffic, a connection that measures below the matching video target cannot reliably carry that target as measured. Even a higher test result needs headroom: household use, Wi-Fi variation, and route conditions can affect a live session.

Measure and test before a real broadcast
- Confirm the actual connection. Identify your exact Airtel plan and run upload tests on the computer that will stream. Test at different times rather than relying on one result. If practical, connect that PC to the router by Ethernet to separate Wi-Fi variation from ISP capacity.
- Choose your OBS encoder and matching target. If using H.264, begin at YouTube’s 50 Mbps 4K60 recommendation. If using AV1 or H.265/HEVC, use 35 Mbps. These are video rates; include audio and other network use when judging whether the line has adequate margin.
- Set the ingest and encoding basics. Use RTMPS where available, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Configure 60 fps and the relevant color settings for the content you are sending. For SDR, YouTube specifies Rec. 709, 8-bit and progressive scan.
- Run a private or unlisted test. Include movement and audio resembling the planned broadcast. Check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health and OBS dropped-frame indicators while it runs; a static test image may not represent a demanding programme.
- Adjust if the test is unstable. Lower the bitrate, resolution, or frame rate until the stream holds steadily. Prefer a stable lower-quality stream to an unreliable 4K60 stream.
YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate before an event and monitoring stream health and messages while live. At 4K, YouTube’s low-latency optimization is unavailable; streams are set to normal latency.
Ethernet can isolate Wi-Fi issues, not add ISP capacity
A direct Ethernet connection from the streaming computer to the router is a practical troubleshooting option when available. It can remove variability in the local Wi-Fi link, but cannot increase the upstream capacity Airtel provides. Airtel describes router provision on its plan page; YouTube’s advice is to test the upload capacity you actually have. No particular cable model is established as necessary.

When to step down from 4K60
If sustained testing cannot support the bitrate for your chosen codec with room for audio and other traffic, reduce bitrate and/or output quality. Changing codec may reduce the recommended video target from 50 Mbps to 35 Mbps, but only if your OBS encoder and workflow can use AV1 or HEVC. Do not select a target solely because it fits a plan’s advertised headline speed; validate it with a representative end-to-end test.
