The official Elvira website promotes her cookbook and lists public appearances; its event page is the place to check for dates and venues, which can change.
Who is Elvira?
Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark, is a horror-host character associated with performer Cassandra Peterson. “Where is Elvira now?” is therefore a question about Peterson and her current public work, not a separate person’s whereabouts.
What is Cassandra Peterson doing now?
Public appearances
Elvira’s official website maintains an events page with convention appearances and related public events. Because listings may include events that have already passed, check the dates directly before making plans.
A cookbook project
The site also promotes Elvira’s Cookbook from Hell. In an Associated Press interview published October 30, 2025, Peterson discussed the book’s recipes—dinners, desserts, cocktails and appetizers—as well as craft ideas. AP reported that she was involved throughout its development and wanted the food to be enjoyable to eat as well as macabre in presentation. The AP interview provides the project’s context.

Does Cassandra Peterson still portray Elvira?
In that October 2025 interview, AP reported that Peterson said she does not inhabit Elvira as often nowadays and described the costume as uncomfortable. That is her account of performing the character; it is not an announcement that Elvira has ended or that Peterson has permanently retired the role. Her official event listings remain the practical way to see whether an appearance is scheduled.
AP also reported that Peterson said publishing autobiographical books made it harder for her to remain anonymous in everyday life. Those comments describe her experience, not a complete account of her private life.
