NYT Connections puzzle #664, from April 5, 2025, groups its 16 words into EMPLOY, PARTS OF A WEBSITE, MAGAZINES, and words ending with medieval weapons. Spoiler-free hints come first; the complete answer follows.

- The next group names parts of a website interface.

Why the purple group works
Each word ends with the name of a weapon: CROSSWORD ends in crossbow, GRIMACE in mace, RAINBOW in bow, and SEMBLANCE in lance.

How Connections works
The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as a word game that challenges players to find themes between words. Each puzzle presents 16 words to sort into four groups of four. The groups are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. There is one solution, but words can appear to fit more than one category.
The daily puzzle is released at midnight in each player’s time zone. The Help Center lists the Games app, the Connections page at nytimes.com, nytimes.com/theathletic, and the News app as places to play. Its archive goes back to June 12, 2023; according to the Help Center, archive access requires an All Access or Games subscription. Access requirements can change, so check the current help information at The New York Times Help Center.
