Status: Noice’s live-streaming platform has shut down. Its October 2024 open beta and creator-rewards program are historical, not opportunities creators can join today. The company’s shutdown notice says its story has come to an end; it does not give a closure date or explain what happened to outstanding rewards.
When Noice announced its open beta, the Helsinki-based gaming startup pitched a more interactive alternative to conventional livestreaming and a way for some European creators to share in the company’s potential future success. The rewards—Noice Partner Reward Units, or PRUs—were not shares, and any cash conversion depended on a possible future acquisition or public listing.
What Noice announced in October 2024
On October 15, 2024, GamesBeat reported that Noice had announced a global open beta alongside a creator-rewards initiative. “Global” described the broader beta access; the special PRU program was reported as limited to creators in the UK, EU, EEA and selected other European countries. Those were separate scopes: open-beta access did not mean every creator everywhere qualified for rewards.

Noice said it had entered closed beta after about four and a half years in development. On September 24, 2024, it described expanding access to creators streaming selected supported games. The October announcement then widened the beta and introduced the rewards program. Noice’s timeline and closed-beta announcement document those earlier stages.

The initial games named in launch coverage were Apex Legends, Dead by Daylight, EA Sports FC 25, Fortnite and Valorant. Noice said it planned to expand support, including predictions for more games. “Open beta” therefore did not mean every game or every creator was supported from day one; access and features were being broadened over time.
How Noice aimed to make streams more interactive
Noice’s central product idea was that viewers should participate in a stream, not just watch it. The company promoted customizable viewer avatars appearing alongside creators, audience prediction games and its “Play The Stream” concept. It also described creator cards tied to memorable moments, subscriptions and virtual-item sales. Noice later said creators could use OBS and multistream, and claimed it did not force advertising.
These were product features and company positioning, not independent proof that streams generated stronger engagement, better discovery or more income than on competing services. The idea was to give viewers more ways to take part and give creators additional formats to monetize.
How creators were supposed to earn
Noice described several potential revenue streams: subscriptions, creator cards and virtual items, as well as the PRU program for eligible creators. CEO Jussi Laakkonen told GamesBeat that the platform’s split was 70% to creators and 30% to Noice. That figure should be understood as Noice’s reported offer, not an independently audited rate guaranteed to apply identically to every product, transaction, fee, tax treatment or payment processor.

The distinction between the ordinary monetization pitch and PRUs matters:

What were Partner Reward Units?
Noice presented PRUs as an incentive linked to the platform’s future success. Eligible creators could accumulate units through qualifying activity and growth, with reported measures including follower growth, viewership, hours watched, engagement and other reward events.
The company described the arrangement as contractual rather than equity. PRUs did not give creators ordinary shares or voting rights, and they were not a guaranteed cash payment. The proposed route to cash conversion depended on a future liquidity event, such as an acquisition or stock-market listing. If no such event occurred, the launch coverage did not establish that creators could redeem units for cash through another route.
Noice’s stated rationale for using a contractual structure was that distributing direct equity could create legal and regulatory complications. That explanation was the company’s account, not evidence that regulators in every eligible country had approved the program.

Who could participate?
GamesBeat reported that the PRU program initially targeted creators in the United Kingdom, European Union, European Economic Area and selected other European countries. The source does not provide a complete country-by-country eligibility list, so “European creators” should not be read as every person in Europe being eligible. A creator could also have had access to ordinary platform features without qualifying for PRUs.
Noice said it was still examining securities-law questions in other jurisdictions, including the United States, which it identified as needing a separate legal approach. The reporting describes the company’s regulatory rationale; it does not supply legal opinions or country-level regulator decisions. Eligibility would have depended on location and the program’s terms, not simply on being able to create an account.

The stated reward drivers aligned with common growth goals: attract viewers and followers, build watch time, engage the audience and take part in qualifying reward events. During the staged beta, creators also needed to stream supported games to fit the initial access model.

The public launch reporting did not disclose a complete PRU formula. It did not specify how many units a given number of followers, watched hours or views earned; whether rewards were capped; what minimum audience applied; how bots, raids, clips or multistreamed hours were counted; a unit’s conversion value; or a redemption process. It also does not verify what happened to any accrued PRUs after the platform closed. Those unknowns make it impossible to calculate a creator’s expected PRU income from the announcement alone.

Why the pitch could appeal—and why it carried risk
For a creator, Noice’s proposition combined a possible additional streaming destination, interactive viewer features, multiple forms of fan monetization and a headline 70/30 split. The company also offered PRUs as a possible long-term upside if Noice eventually reached an acquisition or public listing. Because the platform was in beta, early creators might have hoped to build visibility while its audience was still taking shape.
That upside came with material uncertainty. A future sale or listing was not assured, and PRUs were not equivalent to cash or stock that could be sold immediately. The available coverage did not spell out the full unit economics or redemption terms. Creators also would have had to invest time in a service with an unproven audience, manage another community and possibly add moderation and streaming work. A smaller platform can offer a chance to stand out, but it also has fewer viewers available to discover a creator.
The shutdown is a clear reminder of platform risk: an incentive tied to a company’s future can be difficult to value or resolve if the service does not survive. That is an inference from the closure, not confirmation of how Noice handled PRUs. The company’s official notice does not say whether units were paid, cancelled or otherwise addressed.

What happened to Noice?
Noice’s current official site says, “The story of Noice has come to an end,” and confirms that its live-streaming platform has shut down. The notice does not state the exact closure date. As a result, Noice should be understood as a historical beta and creator-economy experiment, not an active service: there is no current open beta or PRU opportunity to recommend.
The lesson for creators is broader than this one platform. Treat prospective rewards tied to a company’s future as speculative, separate them from money you can actually withdraw, and check the written terms for eligibility, valuation, expiry, transferability, taxes and what happens if the service closes. Consider the time and community-building cost of adding a platform, and favor audiences and contacts you can maintain independently of any one service.
