What is Season 2 about?
The first season focused on the attraction between Joanne and Noah. The second season moves past the initial courtship and explores what happens when that attraction has to survive day-to-day life: routines, birthdays, holidays, family pressure, friendships and disagreements about what comes next.
The major conflict remains the couple’s religious and cultural difference. Joanne is an outspoken agnostic, while Noah is a rabbi. Their relationship therefore raises questions about conversion, interfaith partnership, family expectations and the sacrifices either person may—or may not—be willing to make. The series treats those issues as ongoing relationship decisions rather than a single obstacle that can be cleared away in one conversation.
Netflix also gives the supporting cast more room in Season 2. Morgan, Sasha and Esther move further into the spotlight, with stories about their relationships and individual lives that go beyond simply serving as comic support for Joanne and Noah.
