Contemporaneous reports said Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek were not feuding after a brief interaction at Paris Fashion Week went viral. The clip shows only a moment near photographers; it cannot establish what either actor intended or reveal the state of their private relationship.
What happened at Paris Fashion Week?
The interaction took place around the Balenciaga show in Paris on September 30, 2024. In the widely shared footage, Kidman, Hayek and Katy Perry are near photographers. Hayek appears to guide Kidman toward the cameras, and Kidman moves away. The Independent described the setting and clip in its contemporaneous coverage: The Independent’s report on the video.

The footage circulated online in October and was framed by some coverage as a tense exchange. But the brief clip does not show the conversation’s full context or explain either woman’s actions. It is not, by itself, evidence of an argument or a feud.
What did reports say about a feud?
Reports published on October 14, 2024, quoted unnamed sources who denied that the moment reflected a dispute. Fox News reported that a source said there was “no tension or argument” between the women (Fox News coverage). Us Magazine quoted one source saying they were in conversation and another describing the moment as taken out of context (Us Magazine coverage).

The Independent separately quoted a source close to Hayek saying the video had been taken “totally out of context” and that Hayek had “no bad blood” with Kidman (The Independent’s account). These are accounts attributed to unnamed sources, not public statements made on the record by Kidman or Hayek.

The video establishes that a short interaction occurred near photographers at the show. It cannot establish why Kidman moved away, what was said outside the clip, or whether the actors have a private disagreement. The reports provide attributed denials of a feud, but no direct, on-record statement from either actor confirming the nature of their relationship was identified in the reporting summarized here.

The Independent also noted that Hayek later shared a photo with Kidman from Paris Fashion Week. That is public context, not conclusive proof of what their private relationship is. Taken together, the available reporting supports saying that the viral moment was described as out of context and that sources denied a feud—not that the clip definitively proves either closeness or conflict.
