On March 21, 2025, the Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR’s request for a provisional injunction restricting NewJeans members from pursuing independent entertainment activities while their contract dispute continued. The decision came two days before their scheduled ComplexCon Hong Kong appearance as NJZ. The injunction did not decide whether their exclusive contracts with ADOR were valid; the court addressed that separate question in October.
What did the court decide?
The Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR’s injunction on March 21, 2025. It restricted the members from engaging in independent entertainment activities, including signing advertising contracts, while the dispute was pending. The ruling was a provisional measure, not a final judgment on the contracts. The Korea Times reported the injunction and its scope.
Why did the ruling come just before the NJZ performance?
The members had announced in November 2024 that they were terminating their contracts with ADOR. In January 2025, ADOR sought an injunction to prevent independent activities. The members announced NJZ in February and planned to perform at ComplexCon Hong Kong on March 23.
After the March 21 decision, ADOR said it would support the upcoming appearance under the NewJeans name, while the members said they would contest the ruling. The dispute over their ability to act independently therefore remained unresolved when the event was due to take place. The Korea Herald’s March 21 report covered the ruling and the competing responses.

What happened at ComplexCon Hong Kong?
NJZ performed on March 23, premiered the song “Pit Stop,” and announced a pause in activities, saying the decision to stop was out of respect for the court ruling. Their appearance went ahead, but it did not overturn or settle the injunction. The Korea Times reported on the performance and announcement.
How the later contract case differed
On October 30, 2025, the Seoul Central District Court separately ruled that the members’ exclusive contracts with ADOR remained valid. That was the contract-validity judgment, distinct from the March injunction restricting independent activities while the case was pending. The members said they would appeal, according to Yonhap’s report on the October ruling.

Yonhap reported on November 14 that the members had not appealed by the deadline, making the lower-court decision final. The agency’s report on the missed appeal deadline describes that procedural outcome.
