Netflix is the series’ streaming home; it should not be described as the producer of the drama. Official production credits identify Reel World Management in association with CTV, The CW, and Fremantle, with Fremantle handling international distribution. The season was first announced by The CW in December 2024, while the Netflix release date was reported on July 28, 2025. Keeping those dates separate matters: the network’s renewal and production news came before Netflix confirmed when its subscribers would receive the season.
What happens in Season 3?
The CW’s Season 3 synopsis begins after Maggie tells Cal that she loves him and the characters deal with the consequences of Rob’s diner fire. Maggie decides to leave her neurosurgery career behind and help Sully run the campground.
That decision gives the season its central tension. Maggie wants a more meaningful life, but leaving medicine does not instantly resolve her professional identity, financial responsibilities, or relationships. Near the end of Season 3, Maggie’s former partner Liam arrives at the campground and introduces himself to her friends and Cal as Maggie’s current husband. Netflix’s Season 4 guide says Liam claims he needs documentation connected with their annulment because he is moving to Europe to continue his career as a war reporter.
His arrival threatens the new relationship Maggie and Cal have been building. It also turns Maggie’s unresolved past into a public problem at the very place where she hoped to start over. Liam’s presence is therefore more than a romantic triangle: it tests whether Maggie can be honest about the life she left behind while committing to the one she is trying to build in Nova Scotia.
