The list mixed a short Wes Anderson film, animated and Korean-language series, a reality competition, and two documentary series. One date was already in the past when BGR published: Song of the Bandits was listed for September 22, a day before the article appeared.
BGR published its watchlist on September 23, 2023. Its dates and format details below are historical reporting, not confirmation that any title is currently available in a particular country’s Netflix catalog. Catalogs change by region and over time; check Netflix in your country for current availability. BGR’s September 2023 article is the source for the release dates and figures in this list.

What each title is about
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar: a compact Dahl adaptation
Wes Anderson adapted Roald Dahl’s story about a wealthy man who hears of a guru able to see without using his eyes, then tries to learn the skill to cheat at gambling. BGR described it as a 40-minute film and named Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Kingsley among its cast. It also noted that it was one of four Anderson short adaptations of Dahl stories arriving on Netflix that month; the others were The Swan, The Ratcatcher, and Poison. BGR did not give Henry Sugar a specific release date in the article text, so the date should not be inferred from the other titles’ schedule.
Castlevania: Nocturne: animated vampires in revolutionary France
This animated series, led by showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde, is set during the French Revolution. BGR reported eight episodes, each a little less than half an hour, and a September 28, 2023 release date. The threat it described was a cabal of powerful vampires intent on taking over the world and blotting out the sun.

#1 Best Overall
Song of the Bandits: a Korean-language Western
Set amid Japanese imperial rule of Korea in the 1920s, this nine-episode series frames a Western around contested territory and the lives caught up in larger political conflicts. BGR reported a September 22, 2023 release date—one day before publication of its watchlist. That makes this title a recent release in the article’s original context, not a title still “coming next week” on September 23.
The Devil’s Plan: a strategy-based reality contest
This Korean survival competition puts contestants, including celebrities, influencers, and other recruits, into a mind-game contest for a prize of up to 500 million Korean won, according to BGR’s 2023 account. That is the prize figure reported at the time; it is not converted here into dollars. BGR listed September 26, 2023 as its release date.
Encounters: reported UFO and UAP accounts
Directed by Yon Motskin, this four-episode documentary series examines reported encounters in multiple locations, according to BGR. Its subject is testimony and claims about unusual phenomena; those accounts should not be treated as established proof of extraterrestrial contact. BGR reported a September 27, 2023 release date.
Who Killed Jill Dando?: a documentary about a murder investigation
This three-part series revisits the 1999 killing of British broadcaster Jill Dando and the investigation that followed. BGR listed it for September 26, 2023. It is the watchlist’s true-crime choice, distinct from Encounters, which focuses on reports of unexplained phenomena.

How to use this list now
For a short scripted watch, the clearest fit is The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar; for episodic fiction, choose between animation in Castlevania: Nocturne and the historical Western setting of Song of the Bandits. The reality-competition option is The Devil’s Plan. The two documentaries have different aims: Encounters collects UFO/UAP reports, while Who Killed Jill Dando? examines a homicide and its investigation. These are format and subject distinctions, not claims about quality.
None of the listed dates establishes present-day availability. Netflix licensing varies by country and may change, and the 2023 article does not verify what remains in any October 2026 catalog. Search each title in the Netflix app or website for the country where you plan to watch.
