Netflix announced a U.S. price increase on January 21, 2025. Contemporaneous reporting put all three monthly plans higher: Standard with ads rose from $6.99 to $7.99, Standard from $15.49 to $17.99, and Premium from $22.99 to $24.99. Those are the 2025 prices—not today’s. Netflix raised U.S. prices again in 2026; its current plan page lists the three tiers at $8.99, $19.99, and $26.99 per month.
How much did Netflix prices rise in 2025?
Netflix’s January 21, 2025 shareholder letter announced price adjustments across “most plans” in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. The three U.S. increases below were reported at the time. Netflix’s official letter confirms the announcement and affected countries; a New York Department of Public Service filing documents the Standard and Premium prices for Comcast customers, with those notices setting July 17, 2025 as the effective date. That date applies to the customers covered by the notices, not necessarily every Netflix member.

Netflix said it would “occasionally ask our members to pay a little more” as it invested in programming and aimed to improve the service. In its April 17, 2025 shareholder letter, the company said recent price adjustments in large markets, including the U.S., had performed in line with its expectations. That is Netflix’s assessment; it does not establish how every subscriber experienced the change or whether the increase affected cancellations.
What Netflix costs in the U.S. now
Netflix’s U.S. Help Center listed these monthly prices on October 8, 2026. They reflect a further U.S. increase reported on March 26, 2026, so they should not be mistaken for the 2025 rates.

Netflix cautions that prices and eligibility can differ when a subscription comes through a third-party package or add-on. Check the plan and charge shown in your own Netflix account or billing-provider account if your subscription is bundled with cable, mobile service, or another package.
How the three plans differ
Price is only one part of the choice. Netflix’s current U.S. plan information distinguishes the tiers by ads, video quality, simultaneous streams, downloads, and extra-member capacity.

Netflix says a small number of titles are unavailable on the ads plan because of licensing restrictions, and some older devices are not compatible with it. The plan details apply to Netflix’s listed plans; package or add-on terms may differ.

Netflix says subscriptions are billed monthly on the signup date, and members can change plans or cancel. If the amount on a bill does not match the price you expected, first identify who bills you and which plan is active.

- Check the billing route. If a cable, mobile, or other provider bills you, confirm that provider’s package price and eligibility; bundled rates may differ from Netflix’s direct plan prices.
- Choose whether to change or cancel. Netflix says members can change plans or cancel at any time. Consider ads, resolution, streams, downloads, and extra-member needs alongside the monthly charge.
Netflix accounts are intended for one household. Its plan details also allow extra members on eligible plans, with the number of slots varying by plan.
