The ad-supported plan’s US price stayed at $6.99 per month; Netflix said Ads and Standard prices in the UK and France were also unchanged. These are the prices reported at the time of the announcement, not current prices.
What Netflix charged after the October 2023 increases
The table compares the announced prices with the prior US prices where they were reported. The UK and France figures are the prices after the increase. Each market is shown in its own currency.

CBS reported the prior and new US prices. Netflix’s Q3 2023 shareholder letter listed the UK and France prices and said their Ads and Standard plans were unchanged. CBS News’ report and Netflix’s Q3 2023 shareholder letter document the announcement. Ofcom later independently confirmed the UK Basic and Premium increases and the unchanged Standard tier in its 2024 Media Nations report.
What changed in each country
United States
Basic increased by $2 per month, from $9.99 to $11.99. Premium rose by $3, from $19.99 to $22.99. The $6.99 ad-supported plan did not change at the time Netflix announced the increases. These figures describe the October 2023 announcement, not a current price list.

United Kingdom
Netflix set Basic at £7.99 per month and Premium at £17.99. The Ads plan remained £4.99 and Standard remained £10.99, according to the company’s Q3 2023 letter. Ofcom’s later plan snapshot says Basic was unavailable to new or returning UK customers; that later availability detail should not be read as a statement about what customers could sign up for on announcement day or in other countries.
France
Basic became €10.99 per month and Premium €19.99. Netflix said the Ads plan at €5.99 and Standard at €13.49 were unchanged. The currencies and prices are country-specific, so they should not be converted or compared as though they were a single regional tariff.

Netflix’s stated reason for the increases
Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters said the company had spent much of the preceding 18 months focused on paid sharing and was returning to its pricing approach. He framed increases as a way to invest members’ payments in entertainment, saying, “We look to wisely invest the money that members pay us, deliver back to them more amazing stories, more entertainment value.” This is Netflix’s explanation for its pricing decision, not independent evidence of the value members received.

CBS reported that Netflix added 8.8 million customers in Q3 2023 and had 247.2 million subscribers at the time of its report. Those are contemporaneous figures, not evidence that the price increases caused customer growth. The available reporting does not isolate the effect of these increases on cancellations or revenue, so a specific churn or financial impact cannot be attributed to the October announcement.
