Netflix experienced a broad streaming outage on Monday, June 11, 2018. The company said members were having trouble streaming “on all devices,” acknowledged the incident at 2:57 p.m. Pacific time, and reported that the problem had been fixed at about 4 p.m. PT. The contemporaneous report described the disruption as global, but did not establish that every country or subscriber was affected.

What Netflix confirmed
Netflix publicly said it was aware that members were having trouble streaming on all devices, was investigating, and appreciated customers’ patience. That wording indicates a service-side problem affecting multiple device categories, but the available report does not independently verify failures on every television, phone, tablet, browser, console, or streaming box.
The incident was covered by GeekWire’s contemporaneous report, which said the outage was occurring across the globe. No official country-by-country impact map or affected-user total was provided.

That is roughly 63 minutes between the public acknowledgment and the reported resolution. It is not the outage’s precise duration: the source does not establish when failures first began, and individual users may have recovered at different times.
Was Netflix really down worldwide?
The strongest supported description is that Netflix and the report characterized the outage as global or affecting users across the globe. That should not be expanded into a claim that every market, device, or account was unavailable. The report supplies neither a geographic breakdown nor a percentage of customers affected.

Users turned to Twitter with surprise, frustration, jokes, and requests for help. Posts linked in the report include reactions from @iamnotlucymoon, @ZeraFrags, and @andrea_kate_. These posts illustrate the mood and how people used social media to confirm that a problem was widespread; they are anecdotal, not a statistical measure of the outage’s size. The contemporaneous coverage did not identify a technical cause. It offered no evidence of a cyberattack or responsibility by an internet provider, cloud company, DNS service, or content-delivery network. It also reported no refunds, credits, financial losses, or formal technical postmortem.

The article mentioned Netflix’s then-reported membership base of 125 million. That was the company’s total membership at the time—not the number of people who lost service. Likewise, an assessment that it was the “biggest outage” someone had seen was a personal opinion, not an official severity rating.
Why the outage became visible so quickly
Netflix was a large, heavily used streaming service, and a failure reported across devices could quickly generate confirmations from many regions. That explains the rapid Twitter reaction without proving that every subscriber was affected. For a current outage, users can compare multiple devices, check Netflix’s official help channels at Netflix Help, and see whether other websites and apps work. Those are general checks, not documented steps from the 2018 incident.
