What Netflix’s first look showed
The May 22, 2024 first-look video introduced Hemsworth as the White Wolf, the series’ new Geralt. Netflix described him as taking the reins from Cavill, confirming the recast but offering no explanation for Cavill’s departure.

Netflix later released a longer glimpse of Hemsworth in action. In footage shown during the Canelo vs. Crawford event, Geralt confronts a wraith, uses the Witcher Signs Aard and Yrden, and destroys the spirit’s core. The September 2025 update also included first-look photographs of Hemsworth, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Laurence Fishburne as Regis.
Those clips and photographs establish how Netflix is presenting the new Geralt on screen; they are not, by themselves, a basis for claiming that audiences or critics have reached a consensus about the recasting.

What is known about Cavill and Warhammer 40K
The timing of the recast and Cavill’s association with Warhammer 40K are not proof that one caused the other. Netflix’s announcement confirms that Hemsworth replaced him, but does not link Cavill’s departure to the franchise. The claim that he left The Witcher for Warhammer 40K therefore remains unverified by the cited Netflix material.
Season 4 and the final two seasons
Netflix announced in September 2025 that Season 4 would premiere on October 30, 2025. As of October 4, 2026, Netflix says all eight Season 4 episodes are streaming. Hemsworth’s run as Geralt covers the final two seasons, with Season 5 set to conclude the series.

Netflix says Seasons 4 and 5 adapt the three remaining books in Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake. Creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich described the closing stretch as “the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.”
Hissrich also called Season 4 the show’s “penultimate Season” when production began, and said the cast would be led by Hemsworth as Geralt. Netflix’s announcement of Season 5 as the final season makes clear that the recasting belongs to the series’ closing chapter, not a planned long-term reset.
