Short answer: The reports refer to a historical Netflix access incident on October 12, 2025, not a confirmed ongoing outage. StatusGator recorded Netflix website-loading problems beginning at about 12:06 a.m. and lasting approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, but its record says Netflix did not officially acknowledge the event. Netflix’s service-status page currently says “Netflix is up” (checked September 28, 2026): Netflix service status.
That record does not establish that every country, device, ISP or Netflix function failed. A connection error can instead come from the app, device, Wi-Fi, ISP, account, public network or a single title.
What happened on October 12?
StatusGator’s historical Netflix record lists website-loading problems on October 12, 2025, starting around 12:06 a.m. and continuing for about 1 hour 45 minutes: StatusGator Netflix history. This is independent monitoring, not a Netflix incident report. The available record does not verify the affected countries, number of users, root cause, or whether apps, playback and sign-in failed everywhere. StatusGator describes the incident as not officially acknowledged; that absence of a statement does not prove that no outage occurred.

Is Netflix down right now?
Check Netflix’s official status page first: help.netflix.com/en/is-netflix-down. Its current indicator says Netflix is up. Status can differ by region, ISP, account and device, so a “up” result does not rule out a local failure. Netflix directs people with continuing problems to search the exact error code or contact support.

What “connection issues” can mean
The phrase covers several different failures:
- The website or app does not load.
- You cannot sign in.
- The app says “Netflix is Currently Unavailable.” Netflix says that message generally points to an app-update issue or a network problem preventing the device from reaching Netflix: Netflix help.
- The device displays “Network error: There is a problem connecting to Netflix,” usually indicating a network-connection problem: Netflix network troubleshooting.
- A show starts, buffers, stops or returns to its title page.
- Netflix works on one device or network but not another.
- Only one title fails, suggesting a title-specific playback or catalog problem rather than a platform-wide outage.
How to tell whether the failure is widespread
- Open Netflix’s official service-status page.
- Try Netflix on a second device using the same network.
- If practical, try the same device on cellular data or another Wi-Fi network.
- Open another website or streaming app.
- Check your internet provider’s outage page.
- Write down the exact Netflix wording or code before changing settings.
| What you observe | More likely explanation |
|---|---|
| Several devices and unrelated networks fail at the same time | A Netflix-side or regional incident is more plausible, especially if Netflix’s status page reports one. |
| Only one TV, console, browser or app fails | App, device software, cache or configuration problem. |
| Netflix and other services fail on the same Wi-Fi | Router, ISP, DNS or local-network problem. |
| Netflix works on cellular but not home Wi-Fi | Home network or ISP issue. |
| Only one title fails | Title-specific playback or catalog issue. |
Fix Netflix connection problems
Start with the browser diagnostic
- On a computer, phone or tablet connected to the affected network, open
netflix.com/clearcookies. - Select Sign In and log in.
- If Netflix shows NSEZ-403, Netflix says the account cannot connect at that moment; try again later.
- If the browser works, continue with device-specific troubleshooting.
- Restart the affected device, then restart the home network if needed.

Restart the modem and router
- Turn off the affected device.
- Unplug the modem and router.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug them back in.
- Wait 1 minute for reconnection.
- Turn the device on and try Netflix again.
Some equipment takes longer to reconnect. This can help a local network problem, but cannot repair a Netflix-side outage. Source: Netflix network-error guidance.
Test the connection
Open fast.com in a browser. If it will not load, the device may not have a working internet connection. A speed test can identify connectivity or performance trouble; it cannot prove Netflix itself is available. Netflix’s guidance is at this help page.

- Check whether other people or devices are heavily using the connection.
- Use a wired connection where available.
- Restart the home network.
- Contact the ISP if multiple services or devices have problems.
Netflix says slow loading and repeated buffering can indicate a weak or unstable connection: buffering guidance.

When to wait instead of resetting everything
Pause repeated resets when multiple unrelated devices and networks fail, Netflix’s status page reports an interruption, and other services continue working. Retry periodically and preserve the exact error and time. If only one device is affected, or Netflix works elsewhere, continue local troubleshooting instead. VPNs, proxies, DNS changes, public-network restrictions, account failures and ISP routing can all create Netflix-like outage symptoms; none is verified as the cause of the October 12, 2025 incident.
