The announcement called Season 3 the series’ third and final season and set its premiere for June 27, 2025. The teaser announcement, the later full-trailer release and the season premiere were separate dates; all have passed.
What Netflix said the teaser showed
Netflix described the teaser as a first glimpse of the series’ dramatic conclusion. In the company’s synopsis, pink guards carry a black box—the kind used as a coffin for fallen players—to the games’ resting area. The players open it and find Gi-hun inside. A machine dispensing red and blue gumballs points toward the next challenge. These are details from Netflix’s description of the teaser.
The announcement framed the story as a continuation of Season 2’s failed rebellion and cliffhanger. Gi-hun, Player 456, still intends to end the games, but he is struggling with despair after the betrayal and loss of his closest ally, Jung-bae (Player 390). The Front Man had infiltrated the rebellion as Player 001. The remaining players face deadlier games and increasingly severe consequences, according to Netflix’s synopsis.
