The tone is cheeky and adult-themed rather than strictly practical or traditional. In a 2006 Make: interview, Lohr called it “a cheeky collection of unconventional knitting patterns with a bedroom-friendly undertone.” Make: interview, December 15, 2006
What patterns and projects does it include?
The designs range from wearable pieces to costume and role-play items. Lohr’s examples include a cover bikini, pom-pom sock garters, a cashmere-blend garter slip, a felted corset, a tapered leather I-cord whip, a nurse cap, and a mermaid tail. The publisher describes a full-page photograph for each pattern, alongside variation suggestions and hints.
One notable group is “The Great Bikini Experiment”: Lohr described it as a base pattern with variations for four garments, including the cover bikini and “Bond Girl” designs. Make: reviewer Nataliezdrieu also calls out a “Gidget goes Hawaiian” bikini, a Fembots pattern, a Bond Girl tank/dress, criss-cross gloves with ribbon embellishments, and a “Dress-Up” section. Make: review and interview, December 15, 2006
Are the patterns suitable for beginners?
Lohr said she would rate most of the patterns “adventurous beginner,” adding that this was about the level she considered herself. That is useful author guidance, but it should not be read as a claim that all 30 designs are beginner projects. Readers should judge the individual pattern instructions and techniques against their own experience.
For knitters developing their own patterns, Lohr’s advice is direct: “Don’t be afraid to mess up.” Her approach treats experimentation as part of the process rather than a reason to avoid an ambitious design.

Lohr notes that it can be hard to judge a piece’s real-life size while it is still on the needles. Her practical check is to take the developing work off the needles, thread it onto waste yarn with a yarn needle, and inspect it flat. She also cautions that yarn affects how a new design behaves. The interview does not establish a single recommended yarn type, fiber, or needle size for the book as a whole, so follow the materials specified by each pattern.
