Naked Attraction is a British dating show that reverses the usual order of first impressions: a picker views six potential dates naked, eliminates candidates as more of their bodies are revealed, and learns additional personal details before choosing someone to date. It is an entertainment format built around physical attraction—not evidence that choosing a partner this way predicts relationship success.

How does Naked Attraction work?

In Channel 4’s 2016 description of the format, a single man and a single woman each take a turn choosing a date from six naked candidates standing in a studio. The picker eliminates candidates in rounds as different parts of their bodies are revealed. Before the final choice, the remaining candidates share further information, including how they dress and what they do for a living. The selected pair then go on a date. Channel 4 named Studio Lambert as the producer in its launch announcement: Channel 4’s commissioning announcement.

The sequence is designed to put appearance first and introduce other information later. Presenter Anna Richardson called it “dating in reverse” in a Channel 4 interview, explaining that the reveal sequence was intended to focus attention on physical attraction before faces are seen: Richardson’s interview with Channel 4. That describes the programme’s premise, not a demonstrated method for finding a compatible partner.

Who presents the show?

Channel 4 identified Anna Richardson as the presenter in its announcement for the third series, describing her as fully clothed while she guides the selections. That 2018 release said the recommissioned series had ten 60-minute episodes: Channel 4’s third-series announcement.

What does the show say it is exploring?

Channel 4 framed the show at launch around a question: whether relying first on “primal instincts” could help someone identify a suitable date. The broadcaster’s framing is a question for the format, not a scientific conclusion about attraction or long-term compatibility. Richardson described starting where many dates end—naked—and said some contributors she spoke with were tired of online dating and found taking part liberating. Those comments report her conversations, not a representative survey of dating-app users: Richardson’s interview with Channel 4.

In 2019, Channel 4 Chief Executive Alex Mahon told Parliament that the programme’s lesson was that “the vast majority of the time when people go on a date based only on physical attributes, it does not result in them wishing to see each other again or anything further happening.” This is Mahon’s characterization of the show’s message, not an independently established success rate: House of Commons committee oral evidence, 9 July 2019.

Is Naked Attraction suitable for you?

Expect explicit content. Ofcom’s audience research describes a tested clip as containing full-frontal nudity throughout and sexual language. The clip was broadcast on Channel 4 at 10pm with an in-programme warning about strong language, adult content and full-frontal nudity: Ofcom audience research.

In that research, some participants said the nudity and choosing a partner on the basis of bodies made them uncomfortable. Others found the entertainment value and matter-of-fact presentation reduced the sense of offensiveness; participants considered the title, late time slot and warning adequate signals of the explicit content. These findings concern the clip and research participants, not every viewer’s response.

What has Channel 4 said about contributor care?

In parliamentary evidence in 2019, Channel 4 Chief Executive Alex Mahon said contributors went through screening, a psychological assessment, informed-consent procedures, contributor care and a cooling-off period: House of Commons committee oral evidence, 9 July 2019.

In written evidence, Channel 4 said the programme had featured 392 contributors across four broadcast series. It reported that less than 5% registered negative feedback after transmission and described overall feedback as predominantly positive, particularly around confidence or body positivity. The same submission acknowledged complaints about matches, social-media comments and how contributors appeared on television. These are broadcaster-reported figures and evaluations, not an independent assessment: Channel 4’s written evidence to Parliament.

Where can you watch it?

Channel 4’s historic releases document the programme’s availability on All 4, now described in those materials as Channel 4’s service. They do not establish whether the show is currently available to stream, in which territories, or for how long. Check the current Channel 4 catalogue in your location for availability.

What do the historical audience figures mean?

Channel 4’s 2018 announcement reported an average of 1.5 million viewers and a 9.3% share for the previous series. Those are figures for that earlier series as reported in 2018; they are not current viewing figures: Channel 4’s third-series announcement.
