Velázquez’s career spans early modeling, a breakout sitcom role, ensemble and dramatic television, film appearances, and a return to music on ABC’s Queens. This selected timeline traces the milestones documented in available biographies and a 2021 interview; it is not a complete filmography.
Where Nadine E. Velázquez began
Velázquez’s official biography says she was born and raised in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood by Puerto Rican parents. Apple TV’s biographical summary reports that she began modeling as a teenager, used her modeling income to attend Columbia College Chicago, and graduated with a marketing degree in 2001. The education and modeling details come from that secondary profile.

Her first film appearance and breakout role
Biker Boyz (2003)
Apple TV identifies the film Biker Boyz as Velázquez’s first film appearance. It marked an early screen credit before the television role that would bring her broader recognition.
My Name Is Earl (2005–09)
Velázquez played Catalina on NBC’s sitcom My Name Is Earl. Her official biography describes Catalina as her breakout role, while Apple TV lists the series’ run as 2005–09. The part established her in comedy and remains a defining milestone in her career.

#1 Best Overall
Comedy and dramatic television
The League (2009–15)
After My Name Is Earl, Velázquez played Sofia in the comedy series The League. Apple TV lists the show’s run as 2009–15, making it a sustained television role across several seasons.
Major Crimes
Velázquez also played D.D.A. Emma Rios in the crime drama Major Crimes. Apple TV identifies the role as recurring; its profile’s date notation may be stale, so it does not establish that the character or series continues.
Rank #2
Six (2017)
In the History drama Six, Apple TV describes Velázquez as playing the wife of a Navy SEAL. The role added military-family drama to a television career that had included both comedy and crime stories.
Queens brought music back into focus
In 2021, Velázquez appeared as Valeria, also known as “Butter Pecan,” in ABC’s Queens. Her official biography says the role rekindled her interest in music, a passion she had set aside while concentrating on acting.
Rank #3
In a November 15, 2021 interview with Primera Hora, she spoke about the musical dimension of playing Valeria and returning to that part of her life. The interview also shows that the role was more than another television credit: it connected her acting work with renewed musical activity.
A 2021 project in development: La Tina
In the same 2021 reporting period, Primera Hora reported that Velázquez was developing La Tina as creator, producer, and writer, with support from Will Smith. That is a dated development report, not confirmation that the project was later completed, released, or remains active.
Rank #4
